APPOINTMENT OF A S16.2 ASSISTANT TO CEO

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


You are to ensure that the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the regulations applicable
are complied with in your area of responsibility.

I hereby charge and assign you to assist me in the performance of my duties in terms and by authority of
the Section 16.2 of the Act’s definitions and regulations.

You are to ensure that the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 is complied within your area of
responsibility.

You may assign senior persons who report to you, with the duty to assist you in your functions in terms of
Section 16.2. As they report to yourself, you are to give them all the necessary assistance in the
implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 and you shall provide these
employees
with access to the Occupational Health and Safety Manual.

You shall provide these appointees with access to the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the
organization’s SHEQ program documentation and information as is necessary and where required.

You are required to report all deviations and areas of non-compliance which you cannot rectify to
the CEO and in addition, ensure that the reporting structure as per the Occupational Health and Safety
Manual is adhered to.

the legal requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA):
