ECOLOGICAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT


2016

VISION:
The plan is to reduce the solid waste disposed off to 25% for the 1st 5
years, and a 10% increment for every 3 years thereafter.

OBJECTIVES:

a. Ensure the protection of public health and environment;


b. Utilized environmentally sound methods that minimize the utilization of valuable
resources and to conserve and recover resources:
c. To adopt the best environmental practice in ecological waste management to ensure
the proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment and disposal of solid
waste:
d. Create plan setting the guidelines and target for the volume reduction of the solid
waste at source through composting reuse, recycling and recovery:
e. Enter into cooperation with private sector and NGO’s in the implementation process
of the program and the NGO’s for funding:
f. To instill environmental health awareness and action among the citizens.
Collection – Transfer – Disposal

Collection is to be scheduled at the pilot Purok/Sitio, were only residuals are to


be collected. Separate schedules for Biodegradable and Non – Biodegradable.PST: 0

The solid waste are to be deposited at the Barangay dumpsite MRF, where the
biodegradable are to be composted while the residuals and plastic are sorted out to be
used for other possible products.

Waste Reduction (Re-use, Recycling, Composting)

The plan for waste reduction is to enforce the segregation of solid waste at
source. This will be done after a series of information campaigns had been informed
and educated about the waste characterization.

An MRF (Material Recovery Facility) has been established at the


Barangay dumpsite and has been rehabilitated to accommodate the residuals, mostly
plastic collected from the pilot and from every Purok/Sitio.

A. Raised the fees for items that can and should be recycled.
B. Consider banning materials from disposal where recycling options exist
within a reasonable proximity
C. Education for residents.

D. Support through education and advertising


E. Reuse Education using community based social strategies.
Recycle Initiatives:

F. Install and Make Material Recovery Facility in every Purok/Sitio and other
involved Agencies.
G. Collection services for recyclables and assess feasibility of expansion to
households receiving waste pick-up.

Residual Initiative

H. Garbage collection service for residential waste.
