The idea that the world will one day become a global village is utter nonsense.

P1: The worlds economy is irreversibly integrated. E: - Majority of the world has adopted a free market system, which encourages profit maximisation - Countries have also engaged in trade and specialization - All of the above, through internet, improved transportation networks, etc E: Rise of TNCs and MNCs: outsource their operations, worldwide. Different people in different countries and now connected under one company. Things that happen in different parts of the world can affect them. E.g. Toyota - factories in Japan was affected by earthquake, production plants in Thailand have to reduce production as a result. Countries are dependent on each other for goods and services E.g. China is the main exporter of household goods to Singapore and Taiwan E.g. London, Newyork, Tokyo the worlds most important forex markets. Dependent on these cities, for the exchange market to function

C: although some people may say that not all countries are participating actively in the free market and trade system, it is likely that these countries will participate eventually, as it clearly proves to be disadvantageous, e.g. north korea famine rumored E: ? L: increasing dependence on each other will one day lead the world into becoming a global village. E.g. Earth Day, Olympics Games, Fifa world cup, Grand Prix People across the world have also tried various food E.g. Chinese food in Western countries, Japanese food, Indian food, etc. Access to similar information E.g. Hollywood movies, global/regional news center (channel news asia, CNN international) the spread of different customs may not erode their own cultural beliefs, people can still hold on to their unique cultural identity

L: The spread of different customs have allowed it to be shared, steering the world in the direction of being a global village. C: some people may say that not everyone has access to such networks. But these networks are gradually increasing its outreach to less developed countries. People in developing countries are gaining access to mobile phones. People in developed countries are changing to smartphones, with easy access to the internet. The spread of information is expanding and will eventually create a global village.
