II. BACKGROUND
RATIONALE:
Parents tell us scouting gives their children more confidence, responsibility and
a broader set of friends. Scouting can help develop your child's social skills and
encourage self-sufficiency, and gives them access to activities and opportunities
that may have been otherwise unavailable to them.
Camping takes us to the frontier where nature and civilization meet; we can
learn a lot about both if we keep our eyes open. Camping separates from everyday
life because camping is at odds with everyday life. Camping means leaving
distractions behind; it is just us, the forest, and our fellow Scouts.
With this and for the preparation of the scouts for the Provincial, Regional and
National encampment, the BSP and GSP Coordinators of the Jesus F. Magsaysay
High School will held a JOINT BSP and GSP Backyard Camping.

OBJECTIVES:

The following are the specific objectives of the backyard camping:

• To provide students with a comprehensive Outdoor Education
experience.
• To take the classroom curriculum and teach pupils environmental
awareness through direct learning in the out-of-doors.
• To encourage students to develop problem solving skills.
• To encourage appropriate peer interactions.
• To facilitate and promote teamwork.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:

All expenses relative to the conduct of the training shall be charged against
School MOOE subject for usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
