Forest Project

 Coniferous trees:-
 One type of coniferous forest, the northern
boreal forest, is found in 50° to 60°N
latitudes. Another type is the temperate
coniferous forests, which grows in lower
latitudes of North America, Europe, and
Asia, in the high elevations of mountains.
 Coniferous trees have leaves which are very
thin and in the shape of needles.
 These trees grow in areas with snowfall.
Hence these trees have needle like leaves
which do not allow the snow to rest on
them.
 These trees don't bear flowers but produce
cones and hence are called coniferous trees.

 Mangroves:-
 Mangrove forests only grow at tropical and subtropical latitudes
near the equator because they cannot withstand freezing
temperatures.
 Many mangrove forests can
be recognized by their dense
tangle of prop roots that
make the trees appear to be
standing on stilts above the
water.
 Humid climate.
 Saline Environment.
 Waterlogged Soil.
 Salt-tolerant plants.
 Ability to survive brackish waters.
 Deforestation: Deforestation
refers to the decrease in forest
areas across the world that are
lost for other uses such as
agricultural croplands,
urbanization, or mining
activities.

 Reasons:-
 Agricultural expansion
 Used for wood extraction (e.g., logging or wood harvest for
domestic fuel or charcoal)
 For infrastructural expansion such as road building and
urbanization.
 Climate change
 Overpopulation

 Effects:-
 Soil erosion
 Floods
 Global warming
 Desertification
 Decrease in ground water level

 Solutions:-
 Plant More Trees.
 Engage in tree-planting initiatives in your community or through
global organizations.
 Go Paperless
 Support Responsible Companies
 Buy Certified Wood Products
 Recycle and Buy Recycled Products.
