Introduction: Welcome to Villa Adelaide, my name is Resu. Today we will learn
about the exciting story of Maribel Lopéz Perez-Ojeda by visiting her home and
other special local places in Maribel's life. The tour of the house will take
minutes, please do not ask questions. At the end of the tour I will leave you time
in the garden for photos and questions.
10:10 At the entrance to the garden: This house belongs to a very important
woman for Santa Pola called Maribel López Pérez-Ojeda. She studied in
California and travelled to many countries. She wanted her house to become a
centre for science, literature and art, and she gave it to the town hall. With this
work of art she welcomes us with a warm welcome
10:15 At the swimming pool: The house was built between 1905 and 1910
and has an Indian style with modern elements. Maribel's mother's godparents
gave her this house, which was built by an important architect called Marceliano
Coquillat. Its most important element is the tower. Here we will come back for
photos and questions.
10:22 In the picnic area: Maribel's late husband, Shami, created many works
of art in the house depicting elements of nature such as animals and plants.
This mural and the artwork at the entrance are a clear example of his art.
10:26 a 10:32 Walking through the garden to the entrance porch: There are
beautiful gardens outside the house that were designed by Maribel.
10:34 On the entrance porch: Here we have two paintings by Shami:
Himalayan lion that is his own representation and the Moon represents Maribel.
We enter Maribel's soul, her castle.

of the moon painted. There are also several images of the Virgin of Carmen and
Loreto of which Maribel was very fond. Here we are the dining room with
personalized crockery and tablecloths.
10:45 In the office: Here the office dedicated to the three husbands: Edgar a
Swiss engineer, Hans a mathematical scientist and Shami a renowned artist in
India.
10:50 In guest room: And this room is dedicated to Maribel's extended family.
Her parents, Adelaida's godparents who gave her the house, her great-
grandparents, especially the notary.
10:55 The ladder is the most important part of the house where Shami's
artwork is displayed.
11:03 Livin room: As we climb the stairs, we come to a living room where
Maribel's passions have been reflected, the gold in the furniture, her passion for
travelling. The floors of all the rooms are hydraulic and handmade as carpets,
each one with a different design.
11:08 Kitchen and children's bedroom: We can also find a kitchen from the
beginning of the 20th century and a children's room with Maribel's crib and
bathtub.

typewriter, her personal diary and her university degrees.

minutes. After that we will leave for our next stop

Pola have excellent water quality thanks to the Poseidonea meadows.
