YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS. TV - Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation

(Kemenhub) Risal Wasal revealed the chronology of the decline of the Argo Semeru Train (KA)
and Argo Wilis Train on Tuesday (17/10/2023) in Sentolo District, Kulon Progo Regency,
Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

On Tuesday afternoon at 13.15 WIB, a series of Argo Semeru trains with train registration
number 17 for the Surabaya Gubeng - Gambir route plummeted at the crossroads between
Sentolo Station - Wates KM 520+4, Kulon Progo, DIY.

Some time later, at 13.25 WIB, the Argo Wilis 6 train series came from the west and stuck to the
Argo Semeru train series.

"As a result of this, the cross-the-scene plot cannot be passed in both directions," explained
Risal through a written statement received by Kompas.tv on Tuesday afternoon.
Risal explained that his party had deployed an evacuation team that immediately coordinated
to evacuate two series of trains. Officers also brought in a series of heavy equipment and
rescue locomotives.

"As for the evacuation of passengers, a series of extraordinary trains (KLB) have been sent from
Yogyakarta," he said.

Based on information from the Health Team of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daop 6,
four passengers were injured in this incident and rushed to the Queen Latifa Wates General
Hospital (RSU), Kulon Progo.

Three passengers suffered minor injuries, namely Yosi Putri Utami (37), Karolus Tanawani (54),
and Chrisman Manurung (54).

Yosi had bruises on his shoulders and headaches. Meanwhile, Chrisman experienced pain in the
head. Charles experienced pain in the wrist.

Meanwhile, one person named Monika Aprilia (26) suffered a mild-moderate head injury.

Monika experienced pain in the head, nausea, and blurred vision. He was hospitalized at Queen
Latifa Hospital and planned to undergo a CT scan of the head.

As a result of this incident, two rail lines between Wates - Sentolo were temporarily impassable.

"The Daop 6 team continues to move quickly in collaboration with related parties currently
trying to evacuate affected passengers and evacuate facilities that have plummeted," said Daop
6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager Krisbiyantoro on Tuesday.

On the other hand, EVP of Corporate Secretary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI
Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji said, in addition to evacuating passengers, KAI also evacuated a
series of trains and carried out rail repairs.

"The next effort from KAI is to evacuate two series of trains and repair damaged rail lines," he
explained, Tuesday (17/10), through a written statement received by Kompas.tv.
