Understanding camera movements

STATIC

once the camera is on the tripod, it should


never leave the spot and move around.
PAN

It is mostly used in dark rooms and moves left


to right to follow a character. it can also reveal
information about the character. whip-pan
can make two characters feel excited.
TILT

for tilt it can go horizontially and vertically, as


in look up and down, it can reveal the
characters feelings.
PUSH IN AND PULL OUT

push in- it’s more focused and creates a


connection and feel the characters emotions.
pull out- distancing ourselves from the
characters and losing the connection, creates
negative emotions such as abandonment.
ZOOM AND CLASH ZOOM

It is an unnatural effect where you zoom in


and zoom out, it creates uneasiness in horror
films.It makes scenes very dramatic, some
much drama and it creates excitement
between a character.
CAMERA ROLL

For camera roll, it rotates the camera making


it spin 360. It creates uncomfortable,
upsetting and confused emotions.
TRACKING

The movement of the camera through a scene,


the camera follows the subject it wants to
focus on. It makes us question what is going to
happen to the character and it can build
tension and tragic.
