ELECTRONIC
COMPONENTS
BASIC COMPONENT OF ELECTRONICS

Electronic components are those parts of a

product used in electronic process.
BASIC COMPONENT
OF ELECTRONICS

Capacitor
This are electronic
component which have
the ability to store
electrical charges or
voltage.
CLASSIFICATION OF CAPACITORS

• Polarized capacitor
One terminal of the capacitor is positive and the other is
negative. Polarity need to be observed.
• Non-polar capacitor
Can be connected in any way in a circuit, without
observing polarity.
TYPES OF CAPACITOR ACCORDING TO
INSULATING MATERIALS

• Air Capacitor • Electrolytic Capacitor

• Paper Capacitor • Mica Capacitor
• Ceramic Capacitor • Tantalum Capacitor
• Polyester Capacitor
BASIC COMPONENT
OF ELECTRONICS

• Resistors
This device made of
materials which resist
or oppose the flow of
electric current.
CLASSIFICATION OF RESISTORS AS TO TYPE

• Fixed resistor
Values are fixed and constant
• Variable resistors
Resistance can change very through manual settings.
CLASSIFICATION OF RESISTORS ACCORDING TO
STRUCTURE

• Carbon resistor
Resistance is derived from color coded carbon.
• Wirewound resistors
Resistance is derived from a length of wire wrapped
around a core and cover with an insulating material.
BASIC COMPONENT
OF ELECTRONICS

• Diode
These are semiconductor
devices made up of the
“anode” which is
positively charged and
the “cathode” which is
negatively charged.
DIFFERENT KIND OF DIODE USED IN A CIRCUIT

• Zener Diode
These are used to regulate heat
• Rectifier Diodes
These are used to rectify and convert an altering current to a
pulsating direct current.
• Light Emitting Diodes
These work like rectifier diodes, except that they are used to indicate
flow of electricity through emission of light.
BASIC COMPONENT OF ELECTRONICS

• Integrated Circuit
• Transformer
• Transistors
• Fuse
• Coil
• Antenna
SEATWORK #3

•½ Crosswise
Difference between Polarized and Non-
Polarized capacitors.
