Mrs. Wentworth’s Room

November 2023
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, Mrs. Killam and I are thankful for a
classroom culture that highlights cooperation and kindness. We also appreciate all
of your support at home! We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a great
weekend! Thank you for all of the creative disguised turkeys!
Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat and mittens on chilly days.
We will go out for recess as long as the temperature is above freezing. Please have
your child practice how to put on and zipper their own coat.

Spotlight Activity: Turn and Talk

During turn and talk, students are turning to a partner on the rug to discuss a
given topic. The students have really increased their ability to find a partner
independently and take turns speaking and listening. They also do a great job at
facing their partner and looking at them as they communicate! We are going to
start double talk, which means they find another partner and communicate their
message to two children.

Our Week In School:

MyView: During MyView, we have been talking about informational text! We have
learned about various story elements, such as, author’s purpose and main idea! We
have been writing about these elements too! We have also learned what good
writers do! We know what sentences are and how they start with a capital letter and
end with punctuation.

Fundations: During Fundations, we are continuing to learn letter names, sounds

and formation! Please practice formation at home each night! Also, practice vowel
sounds! We have also played some Fundations themed I Have Who Has and Bingo
games!

Everyday Math: During Math, students are inventing and solving different types of
number stories using a variety of strategies. Additionally, we are using a ten frame
to represent numbers and explore number combinations. We are also working on
number formations to 20! Continue to work on writing numbers and counting to
100!
