Sustainable fashion and


it´s importance
Sustainable fashion brands create fashion in a way which
is most considerate of humanity and the environment,
reducing the environmental impact wherever possible. It
have a lot of importance because with sustaintable
fashion, we take care of our planet and we don't waste
as much materials as certain big brands in the world do.

1970’s- Sustainable fashion began with hippies


focusing on locally grown and handmade
clothing

1980’s- The rise of mass production and the


beginning of ethical issues in supply chains

1989- The World Fair Trade Organization was


created by over 70 countries
1995- The World Trade Organization was formed

2009- Livia Firth formed Eco Age, a


sustainability solutions consultancy

October 1, 2009 - Beginning of the Sustainable


Apparel Coalition

December 1, 2011 - Fair Trade USA launches


first ethical fashion certification label

July 2012 - The Materials Sustainability Index


April 24, 2014 - Fashion Revolution Day begins

2016- The Green Carpet Challenge was a part of


the Met Gala with Emma Watson, Margot Robbie
and Lupita Nyong’o wearing sustainable looks

verifier of social enterprises that fully practice Fair Trade.
Spread across 76 countries.
Livia Firth: Known as one of the most important ambassadors
of sustainable fashion in Hollywood
Apparel Coalition: Is the apparel, footwear, and textile
industry’s leading alliance for sustainable production.
The Green Carpet Challenge: is a dynamic project founded by
Livia Firth and British journalist Lucy Siegle which pairs glamour
and ethics to raise the profile of sustainable style at the world's
most high profile red carpet events.
