MARANATHA CHRISTIAN CHURCH – FROM THE PRESBYTERY IN BRAZIL

JESUS, THE STONE THE BUILDERS REJECTED

“The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone”
Psalm 118:22

“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him”
1 Peter 2:4

The Word with revelation is an “Explosion of Life”

Religion only has the letter. People who only write about ‘the rock’ often have a very narrow, isolated view of the
letter and their main concern is to have clear, simple arguments.
Jesus, the stone rejected by religion. “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone” Psalm 118:22
“’But what about you?’ he asked, ‘Who do you say I am?’" Mt 16:15

OPINION vs REVELATION
THE ROCK
Is the church built upon peter?
“...And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church...” Mt 16:18
In the Greek, when Jesus says: “You are Peter”

He uses the word “PETROS,” which refers to a piece or fragment of a rock. When he continues, “and on
this rock...,” he uses the word “PETRA,” which refers to the whole rock.

What is this rock? See the declaration of Peter a little before: “... You are the Christ, the son of the Living
God” Mt 16:16. The faithful church was never built on Peter, but on the Eternal Rock, the Lord Jesus, the Son of
the Living God (Revelation). The Work of God is by revelation, revealed by the Holy Spirit.

SAND – Fragments of Rock

If it was built on Peter (Petros) it would be built on sand.

KEY – Another Metaphor used by Religion

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven...” Mt 16:19

What are the keys to the kingdom? (Notice, he uses “keys” in the plural) They are the revelations in a general sense
(if you say this to an unbeliever, he will not understand). We should explain:
- The first key was given to Peter in a message to all the world at Pentecost (Acts 2:41);
- The Second Key was for the Jews (Peter’s message at the Gate called Beautiful, Acts 4:4)
- The Third Key was for the gentiles (Cornelius’s house, Acts 10)

THE DOOR
Why did he use the image of a key? A key will open the door. Who is the door? Jesus is the door of salvation.

What is the significance of the key? The key penetrates the door, through the keyhole that Jesus opened on the
cross. The key works because of the sacrifice.

The key in the spirit takes the right place, it penetrates the mystery that was Jesus’ wounded body and
his death and resurrection, and from there the door is opened. Anyone who does not enter through the door is like
a thief who hops the fence to enter wrongfully

So whoever rejects Jesus and accepts Mary, the Sabbath, works, or Peter as the door to salvation chooses the way of
the thief. Peter is the rock, according to religion, but who is the one the builders rejected? So then, who is the Rock?
It is Jesus, not Peter.

About the Pope, remember Matthew 23:9 “And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is
in heaven.” When I use this word, I am disobeying; If I call the Pope “father,” I am saying that Jesus is accursed. We
have to take special care with the children, because they do not forget what they learn. It is important to make sure
they understand that the Pope is not “father.”

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.”
MARANATHA CHRISTIAN CHURCH – FROM THE PRESBYTERY IN BRAZIL

John 10:9
JESUS IS THE DOOR:
Of salvation;
Of the way;
To eternal life.

The Door is narrow and many try to enter through other ways. Religion, even under the name of Christianity,
teaches many ways and many doors.

“I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a
thief and a robber.” John 10:1

There is no other way but through Jesus. The thief can try to force the door or enter through some other way.
Anyone who does not enter through the door is a thief and a robber. The thief cannot enter the kingdom. He does
not enter in his heart or in spirit but only in his mind, through religion, arguments, idolatry, witchcraft, or folklore.

REJECTION OF THE NAME OF JESUS

Religion uses metaphors to confuse its followers, and puts forth other absurdities to defend its apostasies and to
reject Jesus and his sacrifice.
Examples:
- Peter
- Keys.
- Mary.
- Infallibility of the Pope.
- Worship of saints, idolatry, canonization, etc.
- Sale of various religious products: pills, cards, objects of silver, gold, wood, plaster, etc.

JESUS THE STONE THE BUILDERS REJECTED IS ALIVE.

- The Church is composed of living stones (which have the Spirit of Jesus).
JESUS IS LORD!
No one who speaks by the Holy Spirit says that Jesus is an anathema. When you say that Jesus is Lord, it is
because He is directing your life.

THE CURSE
When is Jesus deemed accursed? Whenever you deny the efficacy of his sacrifice, whenever you have another
mediator, another sacrifice, salvation by works, idols, etc., you are treating Jesus as “accursed.”

HISTORICAL ARGUMENT
It is necessary to differentiate between the argument, which is historical, and that which is prophetic. The
ministry of Jesus is prophetic and does not use the letter. When someone says that Peter is the rock, that it is he who
holds the keys to the kingdom of heaven, that Peter lets those he wants enter Heaven and removes those he does
not, that person does not need Jesus. If Peter is the doorkeeper, if he owns the key, then it is necessary to know the
difference. It becomes necessary to say that these positions are “historically based,” that the history of the Catholic
Church was already going on, because it appears to have arisen only during the reign of Constantine.

It is necessary, therefore, to have some arguments from revelation to combat that which religion wants (albeit
with good intentions). Religion wants to impose on the people, by means of teachings that are without basis,
humanly-contrived, fleshly, doctrinally inconsistent, arising from superficial thinking, proceeding outside the prophetic.

THE BIBLICAL REALITY – ETHIC & HISTORY

1. The Bible never says anywhere that Peter ever went to Rome.
2. Peter was married and Jesus healed his mother-in-law.
3. Peter had neither silver nor gold.
4. The idea of Peter as a Pope is purely an invention; we know historically that the Catholic Church did not
recognize or designate anyone as Pope until at least 401 A.D. This makes Pope Innocent I the first Pope (not
Peter, and this was the beginning of all the controversies that would arise over the Pope being an exclusive
agent of God on earth.

FINAL OBSERVATIONS
1. What did the Apostle Paul say? “…built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus
himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in
the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
(Eph 2:20-22)
What did Peter himself say? “As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God
and precious to him” (1 Pet. 2:4)
2. “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5)
3. Christ’s representative on earth today is not the Pope, but rather the Holy Spirit (the Comforter). The original
Greek word for Comforter/Counselor, “parakletos,” meant someone who walks alongside us as an advocate
or defender. The same word used for the Holy Spirit in John 14:16 is used for the Lord Jesus himself in 1
John 2:1).

THE TEACHING OF USELESS RELIGION SUBSISTS UPON THE FOLLOWING:

1. Ideologies based on nothing more than the power of metaphors, like the Rock or the Key;
2. Myths;
3. The blessing of the Bishops, beginning in the ninth century (this was invented to bolster the ecclesiastical
power with the thinly-veiled goal of replacing the sacrifice of Jesus with religious trinkets and other nonsense.

Finally, religion uses a metaphor when it changes the meaning of a word for the sake of convenience, and it uses
metonymy when it alters the natural sense of the words, using them in an inverted fashion, for the sole purpose of
imputing life to an inanimate object.

Doctrinal knowledge therefore comes from the anointing; whoever has the anointing has the doctrine, the true
knowledge.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” (1 Jn 2:20)
