QUESTION 1 (REINFORCED CONCRETE CONTINUOUS AND SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAMS)

A plan view of the second floor slab of a multi-storey building is shown in Figure 1 below.
This 180mm thick reinforced concrete slab is supported on all four sides by reinforced
concrete beams. The reinforcement design for the simply supported and continuous
beams as designed by the engineer are shown in Figure 2 below. You are required to
schedule all the bars of the 330 x 500 continuous beam on grid line 1 and the simply
supported beam along grid line A. No drawings are required.
Please also note that the concrete strength is 40MPa and the concrete cover is 25mm.
