MANGYAN

TRIBES

The indigenous Mangyans offer a myriad of culturally rich artifacts that


give insight into their culture and trade. The people living in Southern
Mindoro during the pre-Hispanic era were exceptional in their weaving,
pottery, and writing system.

MAMANWA
TRIBES

The Mamanwa are nomadic in nature, relying on hunting and gathering


to survive and grow minimal crops such as yams to supplement their foraging
activities. The Manobo's subsistence pattern is, on the other hand, semi-
nomadic relying mainly on shifting agriculture with hunting and gathering as
supplementary activities.
LUMAD TRIBES

Lumad is a Bisayan term meaning “native” or “indigenous”. The term


Lumad is the ascribed collective name of the indigenous peoples of Mindanao.
These presently comprise the 18 ethno- linguistic indigenous peoples whose
previous generations have continuously inhabited the island of Mindanao
since time immemorial.

IGOROT TRIBES

Igorot, (Tagalog: “Mountaineer”) any of various ethnic groups in the


mountains of northern Luzon, Philippines, all of whom keep, or have kept
until recently, their traditional religion and way of life. Some live in the
tropical forests of the foothills, but most live in rugged grassland and pine
forest zones higher up.
ATI TRIBES

The Ati are a Negrito ethnic group in the Visayas, the central portion of the
Philippine archipelago. Their small numbers are principally concentrated in
the islands of Boracay, Panay and Negros.
