Materials:
• 2 skeins Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool in Shade (8014)
• 250 grams/478 yds each skein
• substitute with any bulky yarn
• yarn or tapestry needle
Crochet Hook: 10mm
Gauge: 2”= 4 HDCs and 3 rows
Finished Measurements: 28” circumference at top of basket x 12” tall
Special Stitches
Picot: CH 3, SL ST in first CH made.
Double Treble Crochet: YO 3 times, insert hook into next ST, YO, pull up loop, [YO, pull
loop through first two loops on hook] 4 times.

 Special Instructions for
Basket:
• Read through the whole
pattern before beginning.
• The basket will be worked with 4 strands of
yarn held together. An easy way to do this
with only two skeins of yarn is to make a
center pull ball and use both ends on both
balls to get the four strands.
• The owl eyes will be worked with 2 strands
of yarn held together.
• The basket and owl eyes will both be worked
in spirals. There will be no joining of rounds.
• You can substitute different weights of yarn
as well as different number of strands to
make different sized baskets. Be sure to
change your hook size accordingly to achieve
super tight stitches.
• The tight stitches are what will make your
basket stand up on its own. Using the small-
est hook possible with your yarn will make
the tightest stiches to ensure a stiff basket.

RND 1: With 4 strands of yarn held together, HDC
8 times into a magic adjustable loop. 8 STS
RND 2: [HDC 2 times in each ST] 8 times. 16 STS
RND 3: [HDC 2 times in next ST, HDC] 8 times. 24
STS
RND 4: [HDC 2 times in next ST, HDC in next 2
STS] 8 times. 32 STS
RND 5: [HDC 2 times in next ST, HDC in next 3

Owl Eyes
Leave long tails for sewing eyes to basket.
First Eye
RND 1: With 2 strands of yarn held together, SC 6
times into a magic adjustable loop. 6 STS
RND 2: [SC 2 times in each ST] 6 times. 12 STS
RND 3: [DC 2 times in each ST] 12 times. 24 STS
RND 4: [DC 2 times in next ST, DC] 6 times, TR,
DTR, picot, CH 5, SL ST back in the bottom of the
DTR. Fasten off.
Second Eye
RND 1-3: Repeat First Eye instructions.
RND 4: SC, CH 5, picot, DTR, TR, [DC, DC 2 times
in next ST] 6 times, HDC, SC, SL ST to finish off
eye. Fasten off.
Attach Eyes
Using the long tails, attach the eyes at the top
of the basket approx 2 STS apart (from inside of
eye).
Line up the top of the eye with the top of the bas-
ket, using a few stitches with the outer tail. Then
use the center tail to sew the middle of the eye
on. See pictures for help.

 Owl Eyes continued After attaching center of eye, continue with the
outside tail and sew the outside of eye to basket.
Leave the eye flairs unsown. Weave in ends.

Make Nose
Using 2 strands of yarn held together, sew a trian-
gle in between the eyes to make nose. Begin with
a triangle outline, then fill it in with long stitches.
Weave in ends.

Bring the needle out through the center of the eye then put
back on the outside of RND 1.
