Year – 2010
• The user spends most of his time
within his house, so the building
must be not only a covered space
but also connected to the
outside.
• Fujimoto depended on the idea
of rotation by different degrees,
to provide each room an
exceptional view.
• Sou Fujimoto also in this project
has created a strong relation
between nature and the built
structure through the tilting axis

4. Musashino art university
museum and library
Location – Tokyo, Japan
Year – 2010
• In this project, Sou
Fujimoto creates the
structure of the library in
the form of bookshelves exterior library
• The spiral path makes an
envelope that leads the
users within the loop till
they reach their
destination.
• Natural light is also well
designed by wide span
openings , giving users
the chance to sit and
read beside them.

3. Final wood house
Location – Kumamoto, Japan
Year – 2006
• Ar. Sou Fujimoto uses
typical terms of slab,
column, lintel, ceiling, etc. to
develop an integral
habitable space.
• the idea of the tree house
appears strongly in this
project.
• The structure is surrounded
by the flora
• The concept is also
supported by the natural
material used.

2. Group home in Noboribetsu
Location – Hokkaido, Japan
Year – 2006
• The project is a dorm
residence project type.
• The project consists of two
parts, each part has nine
compartments .
• A central passage connects
the two cubes together.
• The grid pattern divide the
space into equal parts for
sharing and co-living.
• The roof is an angular sloped
roof which brings natural
light inside the building in
additional to ordinary
windows.

1. T-house
Location – Gunma, Japan
Year – 2005
• Sou Fujimoto used every
corner and curve of the
site to produce a room
with its suitable activity
in this project.
• The floor plan looks like
a flower in its full bloom
stage where each edge
is coming to the center.
• The shape and
geometry of the project
stand different from the
rest of the neighbors
• the matte black exterior
is also is considered odd
in the place.

Sou Fujimoto in Brief
• He interests in structures and nature. He has developed a
keen respectful approach to bringing nature close to
humans.
• His designs are described by Airy style.
• He convinces of representing the aspects of a tree in
architecture in his projects.
• His projects are; form of unity, dynamism from static,
complicity from simplicity and mono colored.
• He pays a detailed attention to natural materials uses.
• White, black and wooden colors are always his choice to
bring interaction and attention into his designed projects.
• His progress and journey in architecture shows his talent
and skills in treating and coinciding nature in his work.
• Overall, He values the relationship between nature and
