An: As you all know, today, we gonna talk about countryside which is a really
interesting topic. Please listen carefully and we will bring u a lot of funs.
Hien: Before starting our presentation, let me elaborate sth. As you have seen,
we put some new words, some phrasal verbs and common phrases in this box(in
the pp). For this reason, if you can’t follow us or don’t understand some words,
just look at that box. I am sure that it gonna be useful without fail. It will help
you to gain some new vocabulary. Especially, you can follow us easily. Anyway,
I won’t let you wait any longer. Let’s getting started right now!!!
Minh: Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome back to daily news program! I’m your
host … .I’m here at Ha Noi and behind me is “Global drawing competition 2021”
which is being looked forward by many people. You must have been astonished
at the topic of this year. The topic is countryside. That sounds weird, right? On
the other hand, the atmosphere here is so awesome! At this moment, 4 most
talented contestants are drawing their pictures. And now, let’s get inside and go
for a trip. I think we can ask the candidates a few questions.
(a few minutes later)
Minh: There is a girl behind me. Let’s interview her…Hi, nice to meet you. I
am from Vietnam television. Could you spend a few minutes on our interview?
Hiền: Why not. That’s my honor. But you know, this is the first time I have
been an interviewee so I got butterflies in my stomach.
Minh: Oh, don’t lose any sleep over it. Anyway, are you ready?
Hien: Ok, I think we can start right now? What do you want to know?
Minh: You’re striving to finish your picture, right? I bet that it’s almost done.
It’s kind of spectacular. Can you describe it a little bit?
Hien: uhm, this is the picture of my countryside. Such is the beauty of my
countryside so I can’t express how I love it. It’s a picturesque place with some
vast paddy fields, plenty of vivid kites, naughty kids and so on. In my picture, we
can see me and my younger brother playing with our kites. I love flying kites in
the countryside so much cause there are a lot of spaces and fresh air to fly kites.
Moreover, this activity always puts me at ease. On the other hand, in the
countryside, we don’t buy kites. Whenever I go to the countryside. I make a kite
by myself and I think it is so interesting cause I can create my own kites in my
own way.
Minh: That sounds great! However, I really want you to talk more about the
reasons that you adore life in the countryside that much.
Hien: I love the countryside because of a feast for all the senses. My eyes can
admire the scenery, I can listen to the birdsong, breathe and smell the fresh air,
feel the cool breeze and warm sunshine, and taste the delicious local food and
drink. I also like the fact that the countryside is so remote, far away from the city
where I live, so I can really get away from all the hustle and bustle going on in
my hard life. It also helps me to unwind and re-charge my batteries.
Minh: That is so awesome! Anyway, thank you for the interview. Have a nice

Minh: The picture of that girl is absolutely tempting, right? Now, let’s move
on to see others’ picture.
Minh: Hello, my name’s Minh. Can I interview you?
Ngân: Sure!!
Minh: OK. What’s your name?
Ngân: My name’s Sally.
Minh: Ok sally, can you tell me about your picture?
Ngân: Of course! This is a scene about farmers sowing rice in the early
morning. The scene was unusually peaceful. In this picture there is a house with
red and red roof. Besides, the sun makes the sky dreamier.
Minh: So is there anything special in your painting?
Ngân: I think in this picture the special is that 2 farmers are sowing rice. It
shows us the hard work of farmers who have to get up early in the morning and
toil from early evening just to produce grains of rice for us to eat.
Minh: How do you think people will feel after seeing the pictures?
Ngân: I think everyone will be at peace when looking at this painting.
Minh: So how do you feel about this picture?
Ngân: For me all the scenes in this picture combine to create an extremely
poetic picture. I love watching it because it relaxes me. I love this painting very
much because it can show me the most peaceful parts of the Vietnamese
countryside.
Minh: Ok! Thanks you very much!
Ngân: No problem!
Minh: Thank the girl named Sally so much! Now, let’s talk to another one.
Host: Uhm… Excuse me…Can I ask you a few question???
-An: Yes… Of course
-Host: Oh thank you… So…. What’s your name and where are you from???
-An: My name is An and I’m from Vietnam.
-Host: Your picture is so wonderful…. Can you tell me what is this picture
about ???
-An: This picture is about a countryside in Vietnam. In the picture you can see
a woman with a kidon the way home after a long day on the rice field, some
buffaloes and the green bamboos by the road.
-Host: How long did it take to draw this picture?
-An: It took me a long time to draw. I think maybe about 4 hours.
-Host: Have you ever live in the countryside?
-An: Yes and I’ve been living in the countryside since I was born. Actually, I
left home very early today to get here and it took me four hours by bus. My house
is very far from here but I love living in the countryside since it is pretty laid-
back and everything is affordable. The only downside that I see is that there
aren’t many opportunities there.
-Host: You have a very good idea, good skills and your picture is so amazing.

-Host: Woww…that picture was so wonderful and the artist is beautiful too.

-Quan: My name is Quan and I’m from Vietnam.
-Host: Ohhhh… another one from Vietnam. I can see your picture is amazing
… What is it about???
-Quan: This is a picture about my hometown…. Here you can see green
pasture, some beautiful old house with colorful roof, a clear sky and fluffy
clouds.
-Host: Woww, it’s pretty good. How long did you take to draw this picture???
-Quan: It took me 2 hours to draw.
-Host: Do you like living in the city or in the country?
-Quan: I like to live in the countryside.
-Host: Why?
-Quan: I think rural areas bring me the peace and comfort, which is beneficial
to my health. In addition, i always have a whale of time in the countryside.
Living here helps me avoid the noise from vehicles such as motorbikes or cars
and traffic jam at the rush hour, which can make me comfortable and people also
in the countryside are very friendly and hospitable.
-Host: I agree with you, live in the countryside is more comfortable than in the
city and the people are friendly.
-Quan: Yeah!
-Host: Anyway… Your picture is fantastic. I think in the future you will
