Important things - Keep in mind

1. Present tenses
2. Formal style: No short forms, colloquial expressions, personal references)
3. Always support your arguments with reasons
4. You may start or finish the essay with a rhetorical question, a quotation or addressing
the reader directly

7. OPINION: In my opinion/view, the way I see it, it seems/appears, as far as I am
concerned, ...but I think/feel/believe that…, I (completely/strongly) agree/disagree…
MAIN BODY:
1. LINKERS: To start with, firstly, first and foremost, secondly,furthermore, in addition,
what is more, besides that, moreover, for instance, as a result of, because
(of),therefore, consequently, for this reason,furthemore ...
2. OPPOSING VIEWPOINT: Some people argued that…, However, they forget that...
CONCLUSION:
1. LINKERS: To sum up, in conclusion, all things considered, to put in a nutshell…
2. OPINION: I could not agree/disagree more that/with, If you ask me, I’d say that….

For an opinion essay you need to write at least 4 paragraphs:


1: What is the topic?state the topic. You must include your opinion here
2&3: give arguments to support your opinion. One argument or viewpoint in each paragraph
4: this is optional, here you should give an argument against your opinion but it is not
necessary to write it.
5: summarize or restate the topic and give your opinion again with other words.
