Motors require periodic testing and analysis to: Avoid unexpected failures / system downtime Trend performance and

nd plan maintenance Maximize efficiency Recent improvements in motor test equipment and analytical software have enhanced the ability to quickly analyze and find solutions to motor problems. Testing can usually be performed with the equipment operating. Prescon Services has experienced engineers with specialized test equipment to provide a condition assessment of your motor, diagnose problems, and make recommendations for corrective action.

We offer solutions for Reliability Based Maintenance of LV and MV Motors.

Our Motor Management and Condition Assessment (MMCATM) Program is based on Research work & recommendations of EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute), Dobles Experience of Rotary Machinery Testing/Diagnostics, State-of-the-art Bakers Instruments for motor condition assessment, Lemke & PD Tech Partial Discharge knowledge & strengths as well as Email us your inquiries at: info@theprescon.com or services@theprescon.com

Azima Dlis reliability as a service concept(RaaS) . We also use equipment such as IR Cameras from Chauvin Arnoux France, MCA from All Test Pro USA, MCSA from ANP USA, etc. We assist you based on following broader strategy: Survey of the plant to categorize your Assets (motors in this case) as per RCM Philosophy which necessitates special priority based program for critical assets. Criticality of an asset is ascertained from the process understanding, size and cost of the asset, failure modes identification & the probability of failure based on operational requirements as well site climatic conditions. Motors are first classified into Low Voltage (< 1 KV) and Medium Voltage (>1 KV) as most of the electrical failure modes are different for these two categories. In each category, we have then criticality factors assigned to the motors from step 1. MV motors can be further classified based on cooling technique, winding type and class, load that it is driving. Load if a factor that defines starting stresses on the winding and thus limits the number of starts in a stipulated time allowing for the motor to cool down in between. MV motors condition assessment is further classified as: Stator Winding. Stator Wedges. Stator Core. Rotor bars in case of Induction Motor. Field winding in case of Synchronous Motor. Protection Unit. Mechanical Assessment for looseness, bearing faults, alignment and balancing problems. LV motors condition assessment consists of the following: Stator winding Rotors bars Mechanical Issues Trip Units Stator Winding Condition Assessment: Many tests can be performed to ascertain the condition of winding based on the rating of the machine. For all 3.3 KV and above rated motors, following test or there combination gives the knowledge of condition of insulation: IR/PI. Winding Resistance. Tan Delta and Tan Delta Tip Up. Partial Discharge. Leakage Current. Surge Testing. For LV motors, we can perform various tests as under: IR/PI. Winding Resistance. MCA. Surge Testing. For Stator Core condition assessment, Core loss testing is carried out. It is useful for large machines esp when these have suffered failures of winding before. We also carry out Vibration Analysis, Thermography, On site motor cleaning, overhauling, alignment, balancing, and bearing replacement. We also offer on-site motor rewinding facility with the help of our UAE office. Our Advantage Prescon has the distinct advantage of having its management and engineers with Maintenance Experience in Industrial Environment. We at Prescon understand the tough requirements of production and process continuity, minimum downtime for maintenance. Therefore, we offer solutions which can best fit the industrial needs. We introduced the following services in Pakistan for the first time: Partial Discharge We are the pioneer and so far the only company in Pakistan which offers Partial Discharge Testing Services. Our engineers have tested KAPCO (Kot Addu Power Company 1550 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant with 15 turbo generators All tested by Prescon), FKPCL (Fauji Kabir Wala Power Company Limited 150 MW three machines), HUBCO (1275 MW all MV Motors), Engro Fertilizer (Motors and Generators), FFC ( Fauji Fertilizer Motors & Generators), KEL (Kohinoor Energy 125 MW Three Alternators), Saba Power Plant (134 MW One Generator), DH Chemicals (Fertilizer Company 03 motors and a generator). Prescon has the following tools to test machines: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Multi Channel PD Techs Micamaxx Analyzer. RFCT to test from neutral side. PD Smart / LDS 6 from Doble Lemke. RFI PD Survey Tool. PD Surveyor.

Tan Delta and Tan Delta Tip Up Prescon has state-of-the-art Doble Insulation Analyzer, M4100, which combined with resonating inductor helps to conduct the tip up testing of stator winding for motors as well as generators. This test gives a quantitative assessment number for winding insulation as a whole. Combined with PD and other results, we can pin point the fault within the motor winding and then plan to rectify or at the very least contain the effects of failure if not completely eliminate it.
