The teacher will group the class into 5 groups.
 First group will report on the topic Eco literacy
 Second group will report on the topic of Visual Literacy
 Third group will report on Global and Multi-cultural Literacy
 Fourth group will report on Financial Literacy
 Fifth group will report on Media Literacy
 Sixth group will report on Social Literacy

D. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions to the students:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. Is literacy linked to one’s intelligence?
3. How important to integrate new literacies into the curriculum?
4. How can literacy change people's lives?

E. Abstract

The teacher will introduce the topic of the day.


• INTEGRATION OF NEW LITERACIES IN THE 21ST CENTURY

 21st-century literacy is about technology only.


 Reality: Although technology is important to literacy in the new century, other
dimensions of learning are essential. Studies of workforce readiness show that
employers rate written and oral communication skills very highly, and
collaboration, work ethic, critical thinking, and leadership all rank higher than
proficiency in information technology.
 Encourage students to reflect regularly on the role of technology in their
learning.
 Provide regular literacy-specific professional development in technology for
teachers and administrators at all levels, including higher

F. Application
Message Relay Activity
The class will be divided into three groups.
The students will line up with their team and the
teacher will let the
leader of each group to know the message
secretly. Then each player
whispers the message to the next player in
his/her group successively
until the last player gets the message. The last
player will come in front
to say the message to the facilitator.
F. Evaluation

In a ½ sheet of paper. Identify the element of communication being


described in each item.

Sender 1. The source of information who generates the idea in the


process of communication.
Channel 2. The medium or means of conveying the message.
Receiver 3. The one who decodes the message.
Feedback 4. The reactions or responses provided by the receiver after
decoding the message.
Barriers 5. Factors that affect the flow of communication.

G. Assignment
The students will be instructed to prepare a message for a specific
person, this would be a family member, friend, teacher, etc. students
are expected to apply other ways of preparing the message:
e.g. letter, literary writing, social media.

The output must follow the criteria below.

Content and organization: 45%


Relevance: 25%
Creativity and Originality: 30%
