Pop Music Through the Decades Project

Directions
In groups (max. 5) you will be assigned a decade (60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's, 2010's)

For you decade you will create a Google Slide Show about the music that was popular during that time period.

Your slideshow should contain:

★ A Title Slide (contains the decade, names of group members, and an image that represents the
decade) [5 pts]

★ About the Decade (1-2 slides): [10 pts]

○ Significant historical events,
○ Clothing trends
○ Social climate (how was the world feeling?)
○ What were the teenagers of the time into
○ How did the teenagers listen to music? (music technology)

★ List the styles of music considered: "Pop" [5 pts]

★ Make 1-2 slides per style. [30 pts]

For each style include:
○ Describe the characteristics of the style (instruments, what does it sound like, how would you
explain it, etc) [10pts]
○ List some influential artists/singers/groups [10 pts]
○ Choose 1-2 artists/singers/bands and share an example of their music (youtube video) [10pts]
