EXERCISE REFERRAL COURSE

Mauritius Sports Council (MSC) is offering a course on ‘Exercise referral’. Applications are invited from
interested candidates who wish to be considered for the course, under Active Mauritius, run by the
Mauritius Sports Council, a statutory body under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports
and Recreation.

The course is suitable for those planning to entail a career in exercise referral at the Mauritius Sports
Council. It has been co-designed and evaluated with learners who wish to work with the diseased
population (Non communicable diseases, including cancer, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia,
Obesity, etc.) and includes signposting to adult services. The course discusses and gives you the tool to
safely plan and aid in exercise prescription. The course has been prepared in collaboration with Sheffield
Hallam University, Mauritius Sports Council, and the University Technology Mauritius. It is a 6-credit
award bearing course. You will receive a certificate and transcript at the end of successful completion of
the course.

II. AGE LIMIT

Candidates, unless already in service, should not have reached their 50th birthday by the closing date for
the submission of applications.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of Level 3 Sports Coaching.

Or
Candidate may hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science / Sports Coaching/ Physical education or
any other degree equivalent acceptable to the Board.

Note:
• Candidate should be physically Fit and may be requested to undergo medical test.
• Candidate should be free on the following dates to follow the 5-day course for face-to-face
session on 4th, 6th, 7th 9th, 10th Nov 2023. The Candidates will need to prerequisites itself online
as from 30th of October 2023. (6 hours Study materials at the candidate’s conveniences).
• The 10 potential candidates will have the opportunity to be shortlisted for a full-time job
interview at Mauritius Sport council as Exercise Referral Officers (ERO)
• Only 16 candidates will be selected for the course, depending on candidate’s background and
skills.
IV. MODE OF APPLICATION
(a) Qualified candidates should submit their application on the prescribed Application Form which
may be obtained at the Reception Desk, Mauritius Sports Council, Royal Road, Belle Rose or on
MSC’s website http://www.mauritiussportscouncil.com/English/Pages/Vacancies.aspx or Active
Mauritius website.
(b) Applications should reach the Human Resource Officer, Mauritius Sports Council, Royal Road,
Belle Rose through registered post or by email on registry@msportsc.com, not later than 04 00
pm on 30th October 2023.
(c) Applications not made on the prescribed form will not be accepted.
(d) Applications received after closing date will not be accepted.

Important

(i) Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the Application Form may cause a candidate’s
elimination. It is an offence to give information which is false or to conceal any relevant
information. This may lead to an application being rejected or, if a candidate has already been
appointed, to the termination of his appointment.
(ii) Qualifications obtained after the closing date for the submission of applications as specified in
the advertisement will not be accepted.
(iii) Only qualified persons should apply.
(iv) The originals of Birth and Educational certificates should be submitted with the application, but
applicants should produce these if and when called upon to do so.
(v) Only the best qualified candidates will be called for interview.
