INTRODUCTION

The PNA Annual Convention 2023 was held on October 24-26, 2023 at the Iloilo

Convention Center in Iloilo City. The convention was attended by over 2,000 nurses from all

over the Philippines. The theme of the convention was "Gearing Up for Global Health

Challenges with Renewed Vitality (Panibagong Sigla sa Bagong Siglo)."

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the convention were to:

 Increase awareness about global health challenges that the world is facing today

 Provide a forum for nurses to share their knowledge and expertise on global health

challenges

 Promote the importance of diversity and resilience in nursing practice

 Strengthen the PNA's commitment to global health

ACTIVITIES

 The convention kicked off with a processional of delegates from various regions and

chapters, followed by the Pledge of Fidelity to the Nursing Profession.

 A performance by a local dance troupe showcased the rich culture of the region.

 Dr. Bondoc provided an overview of the convention, highlighting its importance in

addressing global health challenges.

 Hon. Lorenz Defensor, 3rd District of Iloilo Representative, delivered the keynote

address, emphasizing the role of nurses in shaping global health initiatives.

 Plenary sessions covered a wide range of topics, including pioneering excellence in

global healthcare, global health disparities, and aligning the Philippine nursing agenda

with global health disparities.

 A panel discussion focused on the future directions of Philippine Nursing, with insights

from experts in the field.

  The day began with a synthesis of the previous day's events, ensuring participants were

up-to-date on the key discussions.

 Plenary sessions delved into exploring innovations in global health

technology, revitalizing Philippine nursing education for global health, and advancing

nursing research to address global health challenges.

 A luncheon symposium provided an opportunity for participants to engage in informal

discussions and exchange ideas.

 The afternoon sessions focused on leadership and advocacy in global health to empower

nurses and strengthening global healthcare systems to build resilience and capacity.

 Research presentations showcased the latest findings in various areas of nursing

research, contributing to the advancement of the profession.

 The final day commenced with a recap of the previous day's key takeaways.

 Plenary sessions addressed quality assurance in health services and nurturing diversity

and resilience in global health challenges, emphasizing the importance of these aspects in

delivering quality care.

 The general assembly of different officials of the various PNA CHAPTERS concluded

the convention, providing a platform for discussing future directions and initiatives.

CONCLUSION

The PNA Annual Convention 2023 was a resounding success. The convention provided

nurses with an opportunity to learn about the latest global health challenges and to network with

colleagues from all over the Philippines. The convention also strengthened the PNA's

commitment to global health.

The PNA Annual Convention 2023 had a significant impact on my work as a nurse

educator. I learned about new and innovative approaches to providing care to patients with

global health challenges, that can be shared to my students. I also got the chance to meet in the

venue the evaluator of our MSN program for the Certificate of Program Compliance. I also

developed a stronger sense of community and belonging among nurses from all over the

Philippines. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I gained at the convention will help me

to provide better care to the patients and share this knowledge to the nursing students who will

be under my instruction.

I would like to thank the PNA for organizing the PNA Annual Convention 2023. I would

also like to thank the speakers, presenters, and attendees for making the convention a success.

Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to MSU administration for letting me attend and

experience this year’s PNA National Annual Convention.
