Simrad® Commercial is pleased to announce the release of software version 2.0.0.10877 for the
Simrad ECDIS E50XX ECDIS/ECS systems. This software update contains a number of
improvements, the most significant i:
 Improvements to serial ports three and four as well as NMEA 2000® sensors.
 Routes are now sorted alphabetically and a Danger Count is visible in a dangers tab when
creating a route.
 Improvements to the display of the AIO layer and Wind Speed Gauge.
 Improved chart and data handling.

Procedure to install new software

1. From the Navico® Commercial website, go to the Simrad ECDIS E50xx product page, then
go to download, and click on the Simrad E5000 ECDIS Software Update

 2. Download and store the *.upd file to a USB memory stick or SD card. (E5000-next-
2.0.1.10877-Standard-1.upd). It should be stored in the root of the USB / SD Card
preferably without any other files on the media.

3. Insert the memory stick containing the *.upd upgrade file into the Simrad ECDIS E50xx
USB port or the SD containing the same into the SD-card slot. Power cycle the system
and the update file will be validated and installed. When the update is completed, the
system will restart. Attempting to manipulate the system, or interfering with the
upgrade before the restart has been completed will likely induce errors into the system.
Wait for the Simrad ECDIS E50XX to restart on its own.

4. Remove all USB devices, SD Cards and connect the USB trackball/ mouse again.

After the system has restarted, it is recommended the software version be verified.

To verify the software version:

1. Press menu (right top corner)
2. Press Settings
3. Press System
4. Press System information.

 The ECDIS software version should be 2.0.1.10877 when the upgrade is complete and the
system has restarted.

Important: Any NMEA 2000® sensors will be highlighted in yellow after this upgrade due to a
change in protocol. To address this alert:

1. Enter Menu -> Settings -> Vessel -> Sensors

2. Select the sensor that is missing data [It should look like the image below].

 3. Switch from TCP Client to UDP Receiver (See image below).

4. Click the Apply button on bottom of page and exit the settings menu. If you are
prompted for password, the default password is 0000 for Simrad ECDIS E50XX.
