Greenducation is the youth arm of DENR-Environmental Management Bureau.

Composed of students and young professionals with diverse background, it aims to empower
Filipino youth through environmental education. The objectives of the Greenducation is to create
a strong network of youth leaders dedicated in doing environmental stewardship and to
greenducate the future, one youth at a time. It also aims to strengthen the vital role of the youth
in nation building and in promoting environmental awareness.

It was summer during that time and I just graduated from senior high school when I
come across this post that’s looking for youth who are interested and dedicated in doing
environmental action. At first, I was a bit hesitant since it is my first time to join an organization
outside of our school but I took the courage and fill out the registration form because of these
two reasons. The first one is the influence of my alma matter which is Legazpi City Science High
School who opened my eyes to the current happenings in our environment and how can an
individual help in saving our one and only home. Also, I grew up by the sea so it’s always been
a tradition of mine to pick up the pieces of dirt that I see, so I’d like to meet some people who
are also passionate in protecting and preserving our environment thus I joined Greenducation.

While I’m the youngest member of the organization, I got the chance to obtain new
perspective because of the diverse people that I interacted with. It is also my one way to find
self-satisfaction due to the fact that I am experiencing personal growth and at the same time
doing the things that I really want. The only thing that I consider difficult in this organization is
keeping our organization active since most of our members are graduating and are already
working.

One of the opportunities I gain from being a member of the group is the chance to meet
amazing individuals who inspired me to partake and be more involved in environmental cause.
Greenducation also provides support on building our leadership strength and expanding my
knowledge base about environment. Aside from that, I expanded my social network which will
help me in my future endeavors. As for the threats, I think there’s none because the priority of
the organization is the well-being of its members.
