“-s” “-es”

Do you remember what a noun is?
If a noun is countable:
we can use a/an in front of it.
it has a plural and can be used in questions with How
many?
we can use a number in front of it.
How many apples can you see in each box?
Rule 1
Most words add “s” to make the plural.
E.g.
desk → desks
name → names
town → towns
card → cards
park → parks

Rule 2
For nouns that end in “ch”, “x”, “s” or “s sounds”,
add “es”.
E.g.
church → churches
glass → glasses
box → boxes
watch → watches
Rule 3
For nouns that end in “f” or “fe”, change “f” to
“v” and add “es”.
E.g.
wolf → wolves
knife → knives
thief → thieves
leaf → leaves
Rule 4
For nouns that end in “y”, change “y” to “i” and
add “es”.
E.g.
puppy → puppies
baby → babies
candy → candies
