Past tense can be used to describe something
happened before you talk about it.

2. For regular verbs ending with “-e”, add only “-d” to make them past
tense.
3. For some regular verbs ending with “-y”, you have to change the “-y”
into “-ied”.

“do” is not a regular verb, it is an irregular verb.

“be” is a very special and very irregular verb. (the only verb which past
tense has different forms for singular subject and plural subject.)

Simple past tense is often used with these time expressions:
1. yesterday
E.g.
Mr. Parker played football with me yesterday.
2. last XXX (last can be used with many different time references. E.g.
last Monday, last summer, etc.)
E.g.
I travelled to America last year.
3. XXX ago (ago can be used with many different time references. E.g.
one month ago, several days ago.)
E.g.
They turned off the television two hours ago.
