PolyStyreneLoop: The

demo plant for PS

dissolution.
TO ENABLE THE DESTRUCTION HBCD, RECOVERING
BROMINE AND RECUPERATING POLYSTYRENE FROM
WASTE.
OBJECTIVES
1.) Facilitate the transition to a sustainable, circular PS foam
industry
- Demonstrate that PS foam can be recycled in a sustainable
manner
- Logistics/regulatory optimism along the value chain
- Legal status of PS foam construction waste
- Reliable sorting and collection systems
2.) Ensure long term use of PS foam in B&C industry
- Value chain involvement and communication
- Regulators: information and advocacy involvement
3.) Ensure long term use a of compliant insulation system,
PS foams
4.) Demonstrate long term economic and technical viability
ENGINEERING
PS LOOP KEY FEATURES

• European EPS production 2016:

THE COOPERATIVE:
• Members should have transactions with PSLoop
• Votes related to transaction volume
• Must be available for non members (EU compliance)
• Allowed is that members have an advantage

EU compliance: All market parties have access, but members:

• Recyclers: future territory rights, higher price to supply waste
• EPS/XPS producer: linked to SMCP others no deduction on
SMCP
• Converters: EPS/XPS -50 , others no deduction
• Branches. : Only converters that are members of branches get
lower price, so converters should be both member and member
of a branch. The exact legal structure to work the PSLoop plant
is work in progress:
