Relationship between Financial Incapacity and School Performance of Students in Arellano

University - Elisa Esguerra Campus

Financial Incapacity has long been a serious issue affecting people's lives universally,
especially in developing countries. It is a widespread problem that impacts all aspects of
life, including education. Education is one of the most crucial tools for escaping poverty;
poverty creates substantial barriers for children to access education, obtain a quality
education, and excel academically. A common problem with this is students whose studies
are affected due to financial incapacity. Financial difficulties, frequently brought on by
incompetent personal money management, are one of the main reasons students leave
school early. If you are unable to pay your school fees, it could have an impact on your
academic performance or prevent you from attending university. (Savuth, R. 2022). Lack of
financial resources has a significant effect on students, leading them to lose interest in
school. It becomes challenging for students to pay for their education, and even if they try
to find employment to cover expenses, they might face obstacles. For instance, senior high
school students are still considered minors and cannot apply for jobs due to the
requirement of work experience. This restriction makes it difficult for them to earn money
and cover their education expenses, leading to a vicious cycle of financial strain, low
motivation, and poor academic performance.
