6. CONCLUSION

In PDA/DLT system, the process of analysis is based on dynamic pile capacity. After having
the information of soil dynamic parameters, the dynamic capacity can be easily converted to
static capacity. BNBC 2020 & IS 2911 (IV) has provided guidelines for interpreting the static
pile capacity and settlement criteria:

a) Two thirds of the final load at which the load displacement attains a value of 12 mm unless
otherwise required in a given case on the basis of nature and type of structure in which
case, the safe load should be corresponding to the stated total displacement permissible.

b) Fifty (50) percent of the final load at which the total displacement equals to 10 percent of
pile diameter case of uniform diameter piles and 7.5 percent of bulb diameter in case of
under-reamed piles.

For TP-3, the gross settlement obtained from this load test is 6.0 mm and net settlement is
1.50 mm according to TNO Soil Model.

According to BNBC 2020 criteria (a), the allowable capacity is two thirds of the final load at
which the load displacement attains a value of 12 mm. For Test TP-3, the gross settlement
obtained from the load was less than 12 mm, so according to BNBC 2020 criteria (a) the
ultimate bearing capacity is less than the mobilised static resistance for the pile as mentioned
in the above table.

According to BNBC 2020 criteria (b), the gross settlement value was far less than 10 percent
of pile diameter (500*0.1= 50 mm). So, the ultimate bearing capacity can,t be defined from
test result but can be define from modelled static load test curve.

From the above criteria & outcome pile capacity can be consider 359.73 Mt with a settlement
6.0mm & modelled ultimate capacity 476 Mt with a settlement 100 mm.

However, Static capacity may also decrease or increase over time after the pile installation, and
both static and dynamic tests represent the capacity at the time of the respective test. Correlations
between measured ultimate axial static compression capacity and dynamic test estimates generally
improve when using dynamic restrike tests that account for soil strength changes with time.
