1. BACKGROUND
The Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) is an energy and environment think tank. IESR promotes
the transition to a low-carbon energy system by advocating public policies based on data-driven and
scientific research, providing capacity-building support, and building strategic partnerships with
non-governmental actors. IESR's vision is to build a better, more sustainable, low-carbon world capable of
providing clean, sustainable energy for future generations. Meanwhile, IESR's mission is to accelerate
Indonesia's energy transition towards a just, clean and low-carbon energy system. There are 4
programmes in IESR covering the work on (1) Sustainable Energy Access (SEA); (2) Green Economy (GE);
(3) Energy Transformation (ET); and (4) Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE).

Climate and Energy Diplomacy is one of IESR's programmes under the Green Economy Programme, which
covers a range of issues including ASEAN, ASEAN+3, G20, UNFCCC, International Financial Institution
reform and bilateral cooperation on energy transition. The programme aims to raise climate ambition in
the Southeast Asia region by accelerating the energy transition and mobilising sustainable energy finance
for developing countries. Climate and Energy Diplomacy works through conducting research, advocacy
and engagement on these issues with a range of stakeholders including national and regional
governments, academia, civil society organisations, think tanks, the private sector and civil society.

To support the above objective, IESR intends to recruit an intern to support the projects of the Climate
