Important Dialogues and Quotations:

“Did you hear that Eddie? I’ve played football in Brazil, and with your
lucky football.” – This shows that the narrator misses Eddie so much,
that he speaks to him in his own mind (although he’s not really there),
another evidence that this is true is that the narrator has kept Eddie’s
lucky football.

“Dad put his arms round her and she cried.” – This shows how much the
narrator’s parents care about eachother.

“Mum has stomach cramps…”, “Mum promised she’d see the

doctor…”, “Mum is sick.” – This shows the state of the narrator’s
mother, and the rollercoaster of her illness.

“We need Mum to get better, or we’re in real trouble.” – This shows
how much the family depends on the narrator’s mother.

“...I thought I heard the sound of singing.” – This reveals that there may
or may not be something and or someone mysterious/unknown singing.

“We were in the cold sea before I could even open my mouth to
scream.” – This line shows a disaster.
