OBJECTIVES Specific, measurable, attainable, results-oriented, and time-bound

(SMART), achievable within project timeframe.

Improve numeracy rate by at least 75% or 30 out of 40 Grade 5 pupils of

Bocaue Hills Elementary School by the end of February, 2020

BRIEF Describe the problem situation or opportunity for improvement, and the
potential contribution to the achievement of specific school/learner outcomes
BACKGROUND
(SIP).

PROJECT ML 5, Intervention to Improve the Mathematical Language

Diffi culties of Grade 5 Pupils is a project that aims to improve the remedial
instruction and understanding of the pupils in solving mathematical problem, to
decrease the number of non numeracy and frustration level from at least 6 out
of 40 or 15 % of the Grade 5 pupils.

The project proponent believed that if the numeracy rate of pupils

would increase, it will as well increase the Mastery Proficiency Score (MPS) of
Mathemat ics Grade 5 and eventually it will lay strong good foundation on the
pupils as they are promoted to Grade 6.

It has been found out that the level of understanding of the pupils are
low thus the school decided to conceptualize an intervention program (Glossary
of terms in Mathematics) that aims to help our pupils to develop their skills in ana
lyzing Mathematical term and in answering problem solving. In order to make
this possible, sufficient manipulative material will be needed to assist the pupils.
By this, the support of school head, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders
will be needed. In order to support our pupils we come up with the idea of
providing learners with materials that are manipulative and pupils-friendly which
will be both enjoyable and effective in addressing their needs

Project ML 5 will be implemented from September 2019 to February

2020 this school year. If the project is found to be of big help to the low
numeracy rate, it will be continued until the end of the school year and the
years to come.
