KARUMEL FBE IG4848 is an epoxy based powder coating, designed for coating the interior girth weld of
pipelines. When applied to metal, KARUMEL FBE IG4848 meets Saudi ARAMCO sour gas service
requirements.

3. GENERAL APPLICATION
• Prior to welding, abrasive blast clean the cut back to near white in accordance with SSPC or NACE no. 2.
Feather back the plant applied internal coating to provide a roughened surface. Remove blast media and
residues. After welding, abrasive clean the girth weld using an internal robot cleaning machine.
• To Improve the adhesion to overlapping area, applicator should make the surface of internal coating rough
with sandpaper, and so on.
• Apply KARUMEL FBE IG4848 by using internal FBE spray equipment to the specified thickness.
• Follow recommended post cure schedule as below.
• Allow the girth weld to cool and inspect the coating.
4. CURE SCHEDULE
The following theoretical curing schedules are recommended to achieve maximum performance properties.

Shorter shelf stability at higher temperature. Do not exceed 33℃ (91.4℉)
Remarks Incorporate reclaim powder with virgin powder for re-use, only after sieving and at
a recommended maximum of 15%.
The used of recycled powder shall be only permitted when proper screening
equipment is installed.
