Sweet Peas
The changing colors and falling leaves during this time of year are exciting mysteries to our Sweet Pea class. We will use the things we see around us throughout our lessons this month as we identify shapes in nature, discover patterns, sort objects, and match letter sounds. We will use books to explore our weekly themes while learning about parts of a book as well. Here is a look at some of our lessons for this month: Week #1 October 3rd 7th Safety Learn about Letter P, identify triangles, counting and role playing with Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, introduce the number 4, and patterns. Week #2 October 10th -14th I Can Stay Healthy Learn about Letter A, create an apple pattern, introduce the number 5, sort objects by size, and begin learning the Pledge of Allegiance and respect for the flag, Week #3 October 17th 19th Review Singing the Alphabet and matching the letters, counting with rhymes, introduce Pattern Blocks, and learn to use stamps. Week #4 October 24th 28th Halloween Halloween stories and games, make a Spooky treat, class Costume Parade Program, and Halloween Class Parties.

ctober brings chilly weather, colorful autumn leaves, and, of course, Halloween! At Kids Village, we love to celebrate the season with warm cider, caramel apples, bright orange pumpkins, and creepy-crawly spiders. The children always squeal with delight when they see how our Village has transformed into a Haunted Pumpkin Patch. There are a few special events happening this month, so be sure to take note of the dates. Our Halloween Parade Program is good, spooky fun for the whole family. Come with your cameras ready because the children will be all dressed up and ready to show off their costumes as they share a few Halloween poems and songs with you. Emails will be sent on October 20th with program dates and times. Be sure to send your child to school in his or her costume for the special day. We want to remind and encourage everyone to bring in their Kids Village R.E.A.D.S. calendars for the month of September as soon as possible. We cant wait to see which class has the most reading points for the month! You will be receiving your October reading calendar through e-mail so be sure to print it off and start recording each day your child reads or is read to. As the weather turns colder its always fun to curl up with a blanket and a good book. A few great picture books for fall are The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall, Boo to You by Lois Ehlert, or Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman. Now that everyone has become more accustomed to the school routine, we wanted to remind everyone that tuition is due the first day of each month. We will begin charging late fees for any tuition payments that are made after the fifth of the month. In addition, parents who pick up their children after the 15-minute grace period will be charged $1 per minute (after 11:45 a.m. or after 3:15 p.m. respectively). Please remember to send your child to school with their book bag. This allows our teachers to send home all of your childs projects and papers without them getting lost. Also, as the weather gets colder, please label your childs jackets or sweaters with their first and last name.
