Kindercarrots
The chill in the air wont slow down our Kindercarrots. We are jumping into October ready to take on new concepts like addition facts, time concepts, contractions, and suffixes. Our Kindercarrots will continue developing writing skills and reading comprehension with some fun Halloween story starters and group reading activities too. Dont forget to record your reading minutes for Kids Village R.E.A.D.S. We want to see everyone in our Kindercarrot class contributing points to our grand total. Here is a look at some of our lessons for this month: Phonics Diagraph th and ee Suffixes ed and ing Vowel/Consonant, and Consonant/Vowel rules Contractions Math Writing numbers 1-7 Ordering numbers 0-9 Placing an object on a graph Identifying Right and Left Ordering sets from smallest to largest

ctober brings chilly weather, colorful autumn leaves, and, of course, Halloween! At Kids Village, we love to celebrate the season with warm cider, caramel apples, bright orange pumpkins, and creepy-crawly spiders. The children always squeal with delight when they see how our Village has transformed into a Haunted Pumpkin Patch. There are a few special events happening this month, so be sure to take note of the dates. Our Halloween Parade Program is good, spooky fun for the whole family. Come with your cameras ready because the children will be all dressed up and ready to show off their costumes as they share a few Halloween poems and songs with you. Emails will be sent on October 20th with program dates and times. Be sure to send your child to school in his or her costume for the special day. We want to remind and encourage everyone to bring in their Kids Village R.E.A.D.S. calendars for the month of September as soon as possible. We cant wait to see which class has the most reading points for the month! You will be receiving your October reading calendar through e-mail so be sure to print it off and start recording each day your child reads or is read to. As the weather turns colder its always fun to curl up with a blanket and a good book. A few great picture books for fall are The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall, Boo to You by Lois Ehlert, or Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman. Now that everyone has become more accustomed to the school routine, we wanted to remind everyone that tuition is due the first day of each month. We will begin charging late fees for any tuition payments that are made after the fifth of the month. In addition, parents who pick up their children after the 15-minute grace period will be charged $1 per minute (after 11:45 a.m. or after 3:15 p.m. respectively). Please remember to send your child to school with their book bag. This allows our teachers to send home all of your childs projects and papers without them getting lost. Also, as the weather gets colder, please label your childs jackets or sweaters with their first and last name. Dont forget to show your School Spirit by wearing your Kids Village T-shirt on October 5th!

Three Young Rats

Three young rats with black felt hats Three young ducks with white straw flats Three young dogs with curling tails Three young cats with demi-veils Went out to walk with two young pigs In satin vests and sorrel wigs But suddenly it chanced to rain And so they all went home again

Team Work and Cooperation

We are working on teaching your child the value of Team Work and Cooperation this month. You could help emphasize the importance of Team Work in your own home by working together to cook a meal, clean the house, or organize a special activity.
