Shah Faisal Mosque

 Faisal Mosque is the largest mosque in Pakistan.


 It is located in the Capital city Islamabad.
 It is the 6th biggest mosque in the world
 The construction of the mosque was completed in 1986.
 Total area of Faisal Mosque is 33 acers, and it can hold around 300,000
worshippers.

 Late king shah Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia built shah Faisal Mosque.
 In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17
countries submitted 43 proposals. The winning design was that of Turkish
architect Vedat Dalokay.
 Construction of the mosque began in 1976.
• The main prayer hall contains a huge Turkish-style chandelier in its center.
 The mosque is shaped like a tent and does not have the traditional dome
that most other mosques have.
 In the entire mosque, white marble is used that gives it a beautiful look.

 The mosque has a library, lecture hall, museum, and cafe. The main
courtyard of the mosque once had the University too.
