MACRO PERSPECTIVE IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY
1. What are the basic travel motivators? List down and have a short explanation on
each.
• PHYSICAL MOTIVATORS
Basically, this motivator refers to the physical activities, such
as sports and recreational activities, leisure activities which
includes relaxation and rest, all about the physical well-being
of the traveler.
• CULTURAL MOTIVATORS
This motivator refers to the traveler’s desire to learn other
countries culture, such as the people, their heritage, together
with their art, folklore, music and literature.
• INTERPERSONAL MOTIVATORS
This motivator refers solely to escape from the everyday here
routine of the traveler, visiting a friend or relative, meeting new
people and forging new bonds.
2. What is the relationship of needs, wants and motives? Explain your answer.
To simplify this, the relationship between these three concepts is that it’s all
essential as a part of making decisions as a human being, if you look at it this way
the first two concepts answer the question why. Why do we things? And motive on
the other hand can answer why (as a follow up question, why do you need it, why
do you want it?) or it also answers what (what makes you think you want this or
need this?) basically motive is a personal reason why we choose to do either what
we need or what we want. We do these things every day when we’re deciding on
what to do for example, eating, need is “I need to eat something healthy something
with vegetable” and want is “But I want to eat chicken, hamburger and fries” and
then here comes motive playing a pivotal role for the final decision “I will eat
vegetable so I can lead a healthy life” or “ah its okay ill eat this chicken and burger
and then I’ll just workout later.”
