Queen Elizabeth Il and her corgis, Vanity Fair, Annie Leibovitz, 2016

Exercise 1

A) Group 3: Here it's actually trying to tell us that being a photographer is a great experience to
meet new people around the world as we have a picture of Queen Elizabeth II which maybe
means that met a famous person for an incredible memories with as a quote says “I want to
photograph someone is to know them” This quote means that taking pictures of an individual's is
the best way to make friends and get to know one another.

B) The photographer is Annie Leibovitz, an American women portrait photographer renowned

for her engaging portraits, especially of celebrities. She was born on October 2, 1949 educated
in San Francisco Art institute. When Leibovitz returned to the United States in 1970, she started
her career as staff photographer for Rolling Stone magazine. She took a picture of the Queen
Elizabeth in the new generation and technology with colors and a wide choice of corners.

C) So first of all, in this photo one immediately recognizable person is the Queen Elizabeth Il of
the United Kingdom, very popular with her corgis and taken in 2016. Really great angle that
shows us the half part of the castle. We suddenly think of the photographer, Annie Leibovitz who
takes photos of celebrities and even wrote a quote that means, taking photos is the opportunity
to make relationships with others, so good experience. The photo was recently taken so colors
appeared with some natural look and good camera quality of course with the new technology
system.

Exercise 2
The picture represents the power of the United Kingdom by the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
This picture is recently taken with the new modern camera and perfect quality and most
noticeable thing is the clothing has changed by time with new fashion than the old pictures like
as the 1940 Women ”Sewing Flags” old black and white colors that has different old fashion, not
perfectly visible with some blurry effect but we can fully see the flags of the USA. It shows us in
two mismatched types, like in the 1940 “Sewing Flags'' picture, women working hard and
struggling for money, have a difficult lifestyle but the picture of Queen Elizabeth shows it as a
rich lifestyle, happiness and comfort.

Exercise 3

The common points in all these photos is that they all represent the society but different
nationalities, British and American. The photos are taken in different locations like one from
1938 the landscape of West Street in New York where we see buildings and people walking
around, probably a basic lifestyle picture to compare with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that
shows the power and the richness of modern setup and new generation.

Exercise 4

Here the british culture is shown more kind of liberty and relaxing lifestyle as we see here that
the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with gigantic half picture of the castle, so considered as the
rich living style but it's opposite towards American as shown in the picture taken in 1940, women
working on machines to create flags for the USA, women getting job and working hard to gain
money and live properly which means less liberty and frustration. In the other pictures for
example the one taken in 1973 “Another arm”, it represents the beauty of art and the other is the
landscape of West Street, these pictures have their own way of representing their nations but
noticeably Amercians in frustrating at the time.

Exercise 5

A) Photography is important because it opens a view into a person's mind and allows them to
convey messages, anyone can look at a photo and decipher its meaning or be influenced by it.
Photography has a positive impact on society by stimulating emotions and insight. Most of the
time photography shows the reality, the hidden truth or maybe giving us a message for some
good reason to correct our society. It has old memories that kept us smiling or remembering
someone that had passed away, is to bring our echo back to us to feel again.

B) a woman definitely brings something different because of their personality or showing us with
their own fashion, their own style and that women are built differently and that they are able to
work hard for society, for their nation. Woman has the power to become a Queen of the United
Kingdom as Queen Elizabeth II. At the time, women were considered as the weak and
housekeeping but in reality they are equal like us. Man’s are very hard workers, they work
precisely but sometime stupidly because of being blind for money.
