After watching the video about sentence structures, you are asked to complete the following

exercises to measure your understanding of the given material.


This individual task must be submitted on EdLink before September 29, 2023.
The task must be typed in the style of Arial, 11pt, and submitted as a PDF.

Exercise 1. Identify whether the following sentences are Simple, Compound, or Complex?
1. All the flights have been cancelled owing to the bad weather.
2. He had many faults, but he was a good man at heart.
3. It has been ages since I saw you.
4. The fact that he is silent proves his guilt.
5. He finished his work and put away his books.

Exercise 2. Combine each of the following simple sentences into compound sentences.
1. Jack took me out to lunch. I went to see Jack.
2. The guavas are not sweet. The guavas are large.
3. You can not reach the fan. Stand on the stool.
4. Your progress is quite satisfactory. I am happy.
5. He went to various places. He was welcomed everywhere.

Exercise 3. Write your own version of simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex
sentences. For each, you are asked to make 2 sentences.
