INTRODUCTION
PRESENTATION OF OUR WORK
We are going to anaylze a shopping centre that is located in Istanbul,
Turkey. Starting by site analysis to be aware of all the factors that are to
be taken in consideration while designing. Moving on to studying the site
plan and volume developement. Afterwards, we study the different spac-
es and activities that are incorporated within the mall. Next, we analyze
the facades and structures. And finally, we present our reccomondations.

SITE SELECTION CRITERIA

Importance of the site is that, it is located in a strategic point in a Figure : south east view ‘‘Main entrance ‘‘

proximity to the highway passing by the two capitals of the coun-

try, the economic capital “Istanbul” and the political capital “Ankara.”

PROJECT SELECTION CRITERIA

A shopping mall was chosen because the area was known
to be economically crashed so a shopping centre was a per-
fect fit to revive the economics and to create a touristic attraction.

Figure : Location of the mall in Sultanbeyli Sultanbeyli

Sultanbeyli’s becoming a major settlement center is related to the construction of the Fatih Sultan
Mehmet Bridge . The construction of the Kınalı-Sakarya Highway, which crosses the Bosphorus with
this bridge, led to an incredible development in Sultanbeyli. The village became attractive when the
O-4 Motorway (TEM), which reached the bridge opened in 1988, passes through Sultanbeyli. While
a significant part of the immigration from various regions of Anatolia to Istanbul is channeled here

THE SITE IN ITS ENVIRONNMENET

Figure : Location of Sultanbeyli in Istanbul

Atlaspark mall is located in Turkey Istanbul more precisely in the district of

sultanbeyli, a district located at the outskirts of Istanbul. The shopping mall
has become a landmark attraction as it brings people of the region and Figure : Picture of Atlaspark mall
the surrounding area to the saturation point with different brands and so-
cial living spaces. Indeed, it is hard to imagine a more strategic location.

The mall is integrated directly to the highway at the outskirt of the district, which makes it visible and
easily accessible to consumers.

Otoyol 4 (in yellow color) is a major expressway in Turkey as it connects eastern Istan-
bul and the heavily urbanized northeastern shore of the Sea of Marmara to the nation’s capi-
tal, Ankara. Also, it is connected to other important highways which makes it more accessible. 3

We acknowledge that our project is well surrounded by bus stationts which achieve high accessibility to a greater number of
population. In addition, we notice it is localized between two major roads, therefore it adds a value to our analysed project.
