GOING PLACES

A. R. Barton

Two school girls- Sophie and

Jansie- talked about their future
plans after school-education. She
is a dreamer. Jansie is a practical
girl.
No one, specially her father,
believes Sophie as she keep
cooking the stories.
Sophie wants to open a boutique. It
needs money so she plans to be an
actress or work in a fashion house.
Jansie thinks that it is impossible as
they are earmarked for working in a
biscuit factory.

Geoff, her brother and an apprentice

mechanic, a silent and realistic fellow
by nature, was in her complete trust.
She confided to him her illusory
meeting with Danny Casey, a young
Irish football player.

Danny Casey is an Irish star

footballer. He is a prodigy. Sophie
hero worships him and cooks stories
of her meeting him. She says that
He met her once near the boutique
and wants to meet her again. Geoff
and Sophie's father are his fans.

On Sunday the whole family goes to

watch the match. Danny Casey is a
humble player with bright future.
Sophie thinks/dreams that he will come
to meet her after the match near a place
with an only tree. He will give her his
autograph and promise to meet again.
Of course she is dreaming again!
No one believe her, yet Sophie heads
toward the destination where she
thinks that Danny Casey will come to
meet her. She waits but, obviously,
no one comes.
Do you think she learnt a lesson
here? I don't think so. I think she will
again drift to her dream world.
