DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 3

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the children will be able to;

A. Identify living and non-living things in our environment;

B. Give examples of living and non-living things in our environment and;

C. Value the existence of living and non-living things in our environment.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Compare living things with non-living things

References: Science in Action 3 pp.135-142

Materials: Tarpapel, masking tape, pentel pen

1. Prayer

Please stand up

Thank you, you may now take your seat.

Good morning class! Good morning ma'am.

How's everyone today? We are doing fine ma'am, thank


you.
Very good! I will be checking your attendance, check if your
seatmates is present.

Motivation (Pupils clap their hands)

Okay class what can you say about this pictures?

Very good Ana. Ana: That is a bird teacher.

B. Presentation: Gelou: That is a table teacher.

Okay class our topic for this morning is all about living
and non-living things.

Do you have any idea what is living things and non-living

Characteristics of living things:
which possess life and have the

to metabolize, ability to respond to stimuli, ability to
adapt to the environment, ability to move and last
but not the least an ability to respite.

These are the characteristics of living things.

Next is the non-living things.

Non-living things - are not alive. they do not possess life.


They do not have cells and do not grow or show
locomotion/movement. They do not undergo metabolism
with anabolic and catabolic reactions. They do not
reproduce.

These are the following characteristics of non-living things:

 Non-living things are lifeless. They do not have


cells, and there is no proto plasm which forms the
basis for life to exist.

 Lack of protoplasm leads means no metabolic


activities.

 They do not have a definite and certain size of their


own.

 Non-living things grow by accretion.

 Non-living things never die as they do not have cells


with a definite lifespan.

 Fundamental life processes such as reproduction,


nutrition, excretion, etc. are absent in non-living
things.
