• Paragraphs following this symbol are actions to be performed in the specified order.
Text following this symbol have to be given special attention in order to avoid
damage or injury.
This symbol identifies paragraphs which contain general notes to facilitate use of
the device and help avoid operating errors.
Installation notes
− When installing the device and/or doing any work on it, make sure that it is
disconnected from power.
− Remove those parts inside the unit which secure its components during transportation
if necessary for the installation (see enclosed information sheet).
− When moving the device from a cold to a warm environment, do not operate it for at
least two hours to prevent possible damage caused by condensation.
− The device is equipped with a safety-tested power cable, which must be connected
only to a suitable grounded outlet.
− Always hold the plug when removing the power cable. Never pull the cable itself.
− Install cables in such a way that they will not be stepped on or tripped over or damaged
or crushed in any way.
− Make sure that there is always free access to the sockets used or to the electrical
circuit-breakers of the house installation.
Switching off the automatic circuit-breaker or removing the fuse inset from the fuse
holder in the distribution box of the building installation;
Disconnecting the plug connector of the power supply cable from the grounded
socket in the building installation;
Switching off the main ON/OFF switch (see chapter "Introduction," section "General
power interrupt" in the operating manual).
Disconnecting the device from the UPS (if available) (see chapter "Introduction,"
section "General power interrupt" in the operating manual).
− Always keep the device's vents free from obstruction to ensure proper air circulation
and to prevent malfunctions resulting from overheating.
− Only use accessories and extension components that have been approved by us.
Nonobservance can result in damage to the system or violations of regulations
concerning safety, radio interference and ergonomical requirements.
− Note that there are only safety extra-low voltage circuits (SELV circuits) if you want to
feed voltage from an external source into prepared cables to install additional
electronics (e.g. connection for an intruder alarm system).
− To clean the device only use cleaning agents approved by Wincor Nixdorf GmbH &
Co. KG (see chapter "Cleaning, Service and Maintenance" in the operating manual).
Repairs
Unauthorized opening of the device or repair work carried out improperly could
result in considerable danger to the user.
In case of noncompliance, Wincor Nixdorf GmbH & Co. KG excludes all liability.

Installation options
The device is installed as a standalone appliance in a room. Care must be taken to allow
for the appropriate operating and service areas (see section "Operation and maintenance
space").
− bright ceiling light, light reflections and direct sunlight shining on the screen are
avoided,
Floor area
The installation area must be flat and on one level with the surrounding floor. Any
unevenness in the floor area must be leveled out with shims. This is not part of the
installation procedure, but must be done by a contractor.
General information
To connect the device, power and data cables are required. The unit is shipped with a
power cable. The length of free cable is 2.5 m (8.20 ft).
The following data cables must be planned for the network adapter options:
− Other network adapters: Data cable with a connector compatible with the network
adapter
You will find the position of cable entry in the figures in the section entitled "Cable feed".
Power supply
The device must only be connected to a TN system. In addition to the power supply for
the device, grounding outlets must be provided by the customer for supplementary
equipment such as a modem.
L N PE
Alternatively, the transport unit can also be conveyed with a pallet truck. In this
case, the ProAir must be removed from the shipping pallet manually, which could
cause damage to the device.
Observe the ambient condition requirements in the chapter "Appendix", section "Technical
data" for transportation and storage.
The entire transportation route and the installation site must be checked for load capacity
and, if necessary, strengthened as appropriate before the installation date.
Due to the shipping pallet some dimensions are different (see illustration below).

Check beforehand if there is enough space to move the device through doors and
hallways.
The following illustration (scale 1:20) should help you determine if the space is
sufficient. It shows the device on a standard lift truck.
With the help of the grid (100 mm x 100 mm (3.94" x 3.94")) you can draw the
actual dimensions of the door and the hallway to find out if there is enough space
for transportation. Refer to the next page for an example.
In the appendix there is a drawing of the device with a lift truck on a scale of 1:20
which may serve as a template.

All dimensions are specified in millimeters (inches). The diagrams are not drawn
to scale.
Contact the person in charge of planning the installation to verify that all
preparatory work has been done completely and correctly and that none of the
required power and data cables are missing.
Transportation
• Convey the transport unit with the forklift truck to the actual installation site before
removing the ProAir from the shipping pallet.
The forks of the forklift truck must be positioned as far as possible under the shipping
pallet.
Please note that the device may only be opened when the ProAir is standing on
the floor.
When pushing the ProAir, make sure that the adjustable feet do not buckle.
Return the shipping pallet to Wincor Nixdorf and dispose of the support bracket in
compliance with national regulations.
When you unload the device without a forklift truck, make sure that the adjustable
feet do not buckle when the device is pushed.
To avoid damage, do not unload the device onto the edge of a door or panel.
• Move the device forwards and unload it carefully from the shipping pallet.
Return the shipping pallet to Wincor Nixdorf and ensure that the packaging
materials and support bracket are recycled.
• Check whether the device is standing horizontally and adjust the position if necessary
using the four adjustable feet.
Ensure that the supporting wheel of the device carriage has approx. 1 mm (0.04")
clearance from the floor.
• Open the customer panel (see chapter "Appendix", section "Opening / closing the
device").
• Pull the device carriage a maximum of 10 cm (3.97") out of the device (see chapter
"Appendix," section "Opening / closing the device").
• Open the customer panel (see chapter "Appendix", section "Opening / closing the
device").
• If you have not already done so, remove the internal shipping restraints (see enclosed
information sheet).
• Pull out the equipment carriage (see chapter "Appendix", section "Opening / closing
the device").
• Push the equipment carriage back in and close the customer panel.
If you have not ordered a network adapter, the data cable for a network adapter
supplied by the customer must be laid from the opening (3) in the ProAir to the
PC.
The routing of the data cable is described in the following section.
Lay the data cable so that so that it is not jammed when the carriage is pushed
into the device.
This check list has been created for all self-service systems. Most questions can be
answered yes or no. Some empty space is provided in the section "Notes concerning
installation preparation" for your convenience if you want to note any questions or drafts.
After checking off all items, copy this list, send it to your head of operations and
make arrangements for an installation date.

Environmental protection
This means that crucial criteria such as long life, choice of material and its labeling,
emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability have been taken into
account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the environment.
Saving energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they are actually
needed. They should also be turned off when they are not needed for longer periods of
time.
