I was one of Jesus' 12 apostles, chosen to spread the
word of the gospel. I am also a cousin of Jesus. My
name Thaddeus is related to "Labbaeus", which means
"heart" or "courageous". I wrote the book of Jude in the
New Testament. My brother James was also an Apostle.
One of my well-known miracles was during my work of
spreading the Word of God. King Abagar of Edessa
asked Jesus to cure him of leprosy and sent an artist to
bring him a drawing of Jesus. Impressed with Abagar's
great faith, Jesus pressed His face with a cloth, leaving
the image of His face on it and gave it to me to take it to
Abagar. I took it to him and it cured him. This is why

 I was born in the Holy Land in the first century AD. I
was one of twelve Apostles of Jesus. I began preaching
his Gospel to Jewish people throughout Galilee, Samaria
and Judea and I invite them to convert to Christianity. I
was accompanied by one of the other Apostles called
Simon. We were convinced of the importance of
following Jesus Christ in our daily lives, and speak
about him at every occasion. Around the year 60 AD, I
wrote a Gospel letter to recent Christian converts who
were persecuted at the time. I encouraged them to keep
their faith, despite difficulties. I probably died in Beirut,
Lebanon.

I was rejected by the Franciscans, Jesuits and Redemptorists - at
last I was accepted by the Redemptorists. I was a missionary
among the lepers and the slaves of Suriname. I studied music to
cheer the afflicted and poor children. In spite of working very
closely with lepers, I never caught the disease and died of a kidney
inflammation.
Why God does not answer our prayers and help the sick?

Jesus’ desire is our spiritual healing even before spiritual

recovery.God does answer our prayers when it is according to His
Will and when it is not according to His Will, He still answers
your prayers, but in a different way that would not always give you
the chance to see it immediately but in the future.God will reveal
to you,certain decisions He made for you which would not be your
Will but was good for you.
God helps the sick if their mission is not completed here on earth,
but if their mission here is done, He takes them back so that others
will have a chance to continue His missions.God gave us life and
send us to earth to complete His missions. Each of us has a
mission from God to be fulfilled on earth, so we must accept
sickness and health, according to His desire for us.He is with the
sick in the sacraments and in their prayer. He knows and feels their
pain.You are called to visit and care for Jesus in the sick who is

I was born in 1807 in the Netherlands. I grew in a poor family,
worked at home and in a local textile factory with my brother. I
dreamed of becoming a priest. I entered the minor seminary at the
age of 22 and had to work for my admission. After four years, I
applied to the Franciscans, Jesuits and Redemptorists, but I was
turned down by each of it. Thus, I entered into the local seminary
and was ordained a priest in 1841. Soon, I went to the Dutch
colony of Surinam to serve as a secular priest in Paramaribo. I
baptised about 1200 people in the first two years. Among others, I
defended the slaves working on the plantations. Later, I was sent
as a priest to the leper colony at Batavia. After the arrival of the
Redemptorists in Surinam, in 1866, I was accepted in this order. I
travelled through the jungle to proclaim the Gospel to Indians and
the descendants of African slaves. In 1885, I returned permanently

This day marks the beginning of my mission as a priest in
spreading God’s Word. At some point in my journey, I did not
think I would make it. I was born into a poor family. My brother
and I had to work to help support our family. We had no
possibility of going to school. Yet, from an early age, I felt in my
heart the desire to become a priest. Thanks to a kind priest, I was
able to enter the minor seminary, and then seminary. I worked hard

I wrote several famous books, especially about Mary ; The Glories of Mary, other well known
books were The Way of the Cross, Preparation for Death and books on moral theology. I
founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer also known as the Redemptorists in
1732. I was very devoted to Saint Joseph and I never missed a day without saying a prayer to
him. I wrote the novena to Saint Joseph, called "the 31 days Novena to Saint Joseph". When
they wanted me to become a bishop, I refused at first, due to the basis of my old age and
infirmities, but later accepted it as God's Will for me.
Can I ever do enough penance, fasting and mortification? What if I have anorexia or tend to
self-harm?

Acts of penance, charity, fasting or mortification can help you grow spiritually: you seek to
live less for yourself, and more for Jesus. Yes,you can do penance,fasting and mortification,
but you must do it with prayers. It is more worthy when it is offered for others or for the souls
in Purgatory. Doing all kinds of penance,fasting and mortification in vain without prayers do
not bring any glory to God rather it brings harm to yourself. If you have anorexia,do not let
these illnesses go in vain but rather offer it to God for those who are suffering the same
illnesses as you. Self-harm is a form of temptation by the Devil that can lead to suicide.If you
are harming yourself in any way possible,you should confess these sins and visit the Blessed
Sacrament frequently for healing and inner peace.

O Crucified Jesus, Alphonsus lived entirely for you and he made you known by being devoted
to your Holy Mother, whom you gave to us as our Heavenly Mother here on earth. Teach me

I was born in 1696, in Naples, to a well-respected family. I was considered very intelligent and
became a lawyer. I resigned from a brilliant career after ten years, because I realised that I had
not placed God at the centre of my life. I became a priest, especially known as a preacher and
confessor. I spoke in such a way that everyone could understand me and be inspired. I
encouraged people to pray more. In 1732, I founded the Redemptorists, a new preaching order.
I also wrote various books and hymns. In 1748, my book on moral theology was published,
which became an important work. Thirty years later, I was appointed bishop. I died in 1787.

There is a point in your life when you ask yourself about the path of life you are following. It
also happened to me. I became a lawyer at the age of sixteen. I was considered a genius in my
work. I loved my social life; consisting of entertainment, fashion and music. A few months
ago, I lost an important case. During a period of depression, I started to reconsider my life. It
felt as if God was saying to me: “Leave the world and give yourself to me.” I reflected about
this, prayed, and finally understood that it was my call to serve God in the Church as a priest.
My father wanted to change my mind, but I had discerned my calling carefully.

Three years ago, I was ordained priest and since then, I have devoted myself to apostolic

Through the power of fervent prayer and the grace of patience, I managed to

I was born in 331. I always was a strong-willed person and this helped me a
lot in my life. I married a man that my family had chosen for me. Together
we had three children, but I was not happy. He was really unkind and had a
violent temper. I had been always very religious and I was convinced that the
whole family should become Christian. My husband was against this idea but
later was touched by my devotion. My son, Augustine was enrolled as a
catechumen. As a young man, my son was not religious at all. He led a
corrupted life, and I was worried about his soul. I prayed a lot for him, day
after day. Thank God, after many years of prayer, he recognised the
importance of a life with Christ. I was really grateful that he opened his heart
to be changed by God. He became a very notorious religious person. I died in
387. The day before I died, my son and I had a beautiful conversation about
the joys of heaven.

Young people face different temptations. The most important thing is to
figure out how to win against them. I am speaking from experience. My
parents used to ask me to bring wine from the cellar for them. One day, as I
was bringing wine from the cellar for my parents, I took a sip. After that, I

Я народилася в 331 році. Я завжди була вольовою людиною, і це дуже допомогло мені в
