Instruction Disclaimer

Dennis Kirk provides instructions to help our customers better understand how to install the
products we sell. The instructions are exact copies of what the manufacturer includes with the
product being sold.

That means the quality and accuracy of the instructions is solely dependent on what the
manufacturer produces. We do our best to make the text legible and the pictures viewable.
However, the end result depends largely on the quality of instructions the manufacturer
provides.

Therefore, you will find that some instructions are not of the highest quality. Sometimes text is
hard to read and pictures are not easy to see. At times you will find the overall look of the
instructions to be less than professional. However, we feel it is better to provide what we have
rather than provide nothing at all.

To the best of our knowledge the instructions and application information contained in the
instructions is accurate. However, Dennis Kirk assumes no liability related to any errors that
may be contained in the copy of the manufacturer’s instructions we provide. Buyers are solely
responsible to insure that product use is consistent with their application.

business related questions.

NESS TECH OIL PRESSURE GAUGE KIT
Part # 15-659 Fits: 1886-up Sportster models
Note: this kit will not fit on pre 2004 models w/forward controls

Thank you for purchasing this Arlen Ness product. We believe that our products are the
very best available and are engineered to provide a lifetime of use. Basic hand tools
and a service manual for your year and model motorcycle are all you need to complete
this installation.

Apply Teflon tape or equivalent to the threads of the oil pressure gauge and thread
the oil line onto the gauge. Tighten the oil line using a wrench on both the line and
the gauge.
2. The oil gauge is mounted to the engine using a gauge cup and a mounting bracket. A
single set screw threads into the bracket and aligns with a through hole in the gauge
cup. This allows the set screw to pinch against the gauge body preventing it from
turning and also secures the cup as well. Install the cup into bracket lining up the
through hole with the set screw hole. Apply thread locker to set screw then install it
through the bracket just far enough to hold the cup in place. Install the line and
gauge into the cup then clock the gauge in the desired position and snug the set
screw just enough to lock the gauge in place. Pic 1. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
3. Remove the two right side rocker box bolts, washers and old seal washers from the
rear rocker box. Apply thread locker to the two chrome button head aliens. Install
the two 1/4 AN washers on them, insert them through the bracket then install the
new seal washers. Install assembly on to rocker box and tighten button head aliens
to OEM specs. Pic 2. NOTE: on 2004 and later models you must use two 1/4 hard
washers, one between each seal washer and the bracket to gain enough clearance
between the bracket and rocker box.
86 to 03 Models:
4. Remove the left side front engine mount plate. Then remove the OEM oil pressure
sender from the engine case. Apply Teflon tape or equivalent to the threads of the
sending unit adaptor and install it into the engine case with the holes facing out
ward towards the left side of bike. Apply Teflon tape or equivalent to the threads of
the 1/8 NPT 90° adaptor, straight hose adaptor and OEM sender then install them
into the sending unit adaptor as shown. Pic 3. NOTE: For ease of illustration, the
adaptor assembly is shown off the bike. Route the hose from the gauge under the
air cleaner forward over the top of the oil filter down to the straight hose adaptor
and secure hose to adaptor. Reinstall sender wire.
5. Slip two 1/4 P-clamps on to braided hose near lifter blocks. Remove the outer front
bolt from the rear lifter block and secure the rear P-clamp there. Remove the outer
rear bolt from the front lifter block and secure the front P-clamp there. Pic 4. Start
the engine and check for leaks.
