WELCOME
RACE DIRECTOR
Welcome to the 2023 Kaiser Permanente IRONMAN California!
I’m delighted you’re here in Sacramento to join us for what surely will be another exciting IRONMAN
triathlon. The unique atmosphere of our state’s capital city combined with beautiful scenery,
a lightning-fast course, and this year’s momentous athlete turnout promise to make it a truly
memorable event. From our partners in local law enforcement to our friends at Visit Sacramento
to our army of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, we’re all coming together on this beautiful
October weekend to make sure your race experience is a thoroughly fun and memorable one.
While you’re here in Sacramento, I hope you’ll take some time to enjoy some of the amazing local
features and attractions that make America’s “Farm-to-Fork” capital so unique. The region is home
to more than 200 wineries, 50 craft breweries, and 40 regional farmers markets – so you can bet
that Sacramento’s restaurants are serving the freshest local fare! Take in the scenic views from a
bike path along the American River, or step back in time to California’s Gold Rush era with a stroll
through the Old Sacramento Waterfront.
Whether you’re racing or cheering in Sacramento this weekend, I invite you to savor all that this
vibrant part of the Golden State has to offer, and I wish you an unforgettable 2023 Kaiser Permanente
IRONMAN California experience.

Don’t try this on race day *
* A bold statement from the brand that wants to sell you the product, sure. But getting used to nutrition is one thing many
athletes don’t prioritize in training. Some even risk it all by trying new products on race day. So, use whatever you’ve
trained with or get used to what you’re getting on-course. In this case the GEL 100 and GEL 100 CAF 100.
