11
Gravel Pack Technologies

(1)Native reason:
Unconsolidated sand reservoir, usually shallow depths (≤5000ft) etc.
(2)Development reason:
Long time production will decrease reservoir pressure, increase the overburden stress on
grains(vertical stress);
The pressure close to the perforation formation will decrease with the daily fluid
production (horizontal stress).

(1)Sand bridges:
Sand bridge will form in casing or tubing and plug well flow.
(2)Sand disposal:
Work-over to wash the sand to ensure production. Rig cost.
Separate the sand from fluid. Disposal cost etc.
(3)Sand erosion:
Damage will be caused in down-hole tools and surface equipment.
(4) Casing failure:
Long time sand entry easily lead formation and casing deformed.

Agenda

1 • Overview of ANTON Sand Control

2 • Gravel Pack Technologies

3 • Operation and Performance

4 • Conclusions and Suggestions

46
Conclusions

(1) Stop the sand entry very efficiently

Improve the well conditions and keep the

(2) production stable.
Conclusions
Protect the pump, tubing and other equipment
(3) from sand entry.

(4) Reduce the workover times and cost.

47
Suggestions

Take the earlier sand control operation

to keep a good well condition.

Suggestions Choose good conditions of thermal

wells as candidates in priority, because
the sand control operation can protect
casing at the beginning.

Enhance the sand production and fluid

production monitoring at the early
period of re-production.
