CONCLUSION

These curricula deliver different aspects that cater to all the education gaps, especially in the Social Study of

Elementary learners. K–12 gives teachers the ability to instill learners with the relevant skill that catches up

with the ASEAN integration. The curriculum is very beneficial because it gives quality education that answers

societal needs and produces skillful yet knowledgeable and employable Filipinos. MELCs answer the

challenging circumstances during the Pandemic. It filled the gaps and helped both students and teachers in

coping up with the new changes. MELCs offer flexible learning where students engage in self-paced learning

with enough time for them to analyze and understand the lesson. They are also given flexible activities so that

they won’t rush and feel overloaded. The MATATAG curriculum on the other hand is the revision of the K-12

Curriculum and MELCs (Most Essential Learning Competencies) incorporate key changes:

- Reduction in the Number of Subjects

- Emphasis on foundational skills

- Decongested Curriculum

- Intensified Values Education and Strengthened Peace Education

- Anchored on International Standards

- Cognitive Equilibrium

MATATAG Curriculum addresses the learning losses due to many learning competencies but with short time

allotment for instruction. That’s why with the key changes in the MATATAG curriculum students will have to

focus only on the things that they must know and yet they’re still able to develop their skills. With this

curriculum, students will be able to hone their foundational, cognitive, logical, and critical thinking skills. They

will also be integrated with values about their cultural heritage, citizenry, civic engagement, patriotism, and the

history of the Philippines.

These curricula are the foundation of Social Study or Araling Panlipunan in today’s developing processes. The

key strengths of each curriculum made it easy for AP to instill learners about their civic rights, and

responsibilities as a citizen, develop their citizenry, and connect them to real-world issues and challenges.

After reviewing the MATATAG curriculum, K-12 curriculum, and MELCs we have the following

recommendations and insights:

 Provide adequate Support for teachers – Teachers play a pivotal role in implementing the curriculum

effectively. It is important to provide them with the necessary training and resources, as well as ongoing

support for professional development.

 Evaluation of Curriculum – The curriculum must be evaluated to see if there is anything that lacking or

gaps that need to be met. Also, to see if the curriculum is effective and in alignment with educational

goals.

 Assessment Methods – The curriculum when implemented shall address the various learning styles

and abilities of students in coping with the lesson. Assessments shall measure their understanding and

skills.
