from all over the world come
here every year to hang out n
sunbathe on the beaches of
Miami or take an
unforgettable Caribbean cruise
Miami and its suburbs are
located on a broad plain
between the Florida
Everglades to the west and
Biscayne Bay to the east
Biscayne Bay
At the moment,the population of Miami is estimate to be just
over than 450,000;
Most Miami residents speak Spanish
Sharks live in the waters of Atlantic ocean near Miami
Mangrove forests have long played an important role in the life of the inhabitants of
the coast.They protect against storm winds and serve as a source of food and wood.
They are also vital to the
whole world because they
absorb carbon from the
atmosphere and store it deep
in the soil below the surface
for centuries.
Recent studies have shown that
these forests can store 10 times
more carbon per acre than forests on
the surface.
Miami is one of the three-
hurricane-prone cities in the
United States,along with New
York and New Orleans.This is
mainly due to the location of the
city in the lowland coastal plains
near the ocean
Hurricanes are usually possible
from the beginning of June to the
end of November,although they
may occur on other days.Miami’s
minimum temperature is minus 1
degree.Miami’s never snowed
Until 1920,stone crabs were eaten
almost exclusively by Florida’s coastal
communities.The release of this
delicacy into the US culinary scene was
due to the efforts of Joe Weiss,who in
1913 founded the Joe’s Stone Crab
restaurant in Miami Beach and made the
stone crab claw a signature dish
